With the New York Mets and Detroit Tigers currently stunning the baseball world with the two respectively best records in baseball, I am wondering how many baseball fans out there believe that these two teams are for real. As I recall last season, the Houston Astros came back from being down 9 or 10 games out in their division to win the wild card and move on to the world series. While the Mets are 6 games in front of the Phillies and 11 games in front of rival Atlanta, do you truly believe the Mets will hold on to the division lead and win the National League Pennant?
The Detroit Tigers are the best team in the AL right now, but we all know the Tigers have had their struggles in the past few seasons. With the competition in the AL being the White Sox, Yankees, Red Sox, Oakland, and Texas, I don't think Detroit will be a contender for the AL pennant come October. What do you guys think?
My (unbiased) predictions as of today (6/14/06)
AL East Champ: NY Yankees
AL West Champ: Texas Rangers
AL Central Champ: Chicago White Sox
AL Wild Card: Boston Red Sox
NL East Champ: New York Mets
NL West Champ: Los Angeles Dodgers
NL Central Champ: Houston Astros
NL Wild Card: Atlanta Braves
