We haven't had one of these for a while. I'll start:

Jason Garrett will be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys on opening day 2013.

Buy or sell?

Buy.

People have to remember it is not what they may or may not want. It is what Jerry wants and he has made it abundantly clear that he wants Jason to stay here.

Again...what Jerry wants and what the fans want are two different things.

You guys are supposed to pose your own buy or sell question to keep it going......

Oh...

Romo will get an extension.

Buy, Jerry has always been loyal to his star players one contract too many.

We will lose both games to the Commanders this year.

Buy or sell?

The answer is obvious. Jerry's Garrett's #1 fan.

He'll be there.

The better question is, should he be?

I'm having a hard time seeing a lot of support for him to be the coach. Other than playing the role at the podium and using a bunch of jargon, he's been a huge disappointment.

Buy. All that you have. If Garrett is alive and not comatose or otherwise physically compromised, he is the coach.

The better question - is he still the playcalling OC?

Of course he is.

Playcalling is what got him hired in Dallas in the first place.

Play calling is a large part of what got him the head coaching job.

Taking that from him is basically an admission that he wasn't fit to be the OC in the first place, which he wasn't.

Plus, without playcalling he's really nothing more than a figure head because his game management is abysmal.

AND

So long as the two people immediately subordinate to Jerry are the OC and DC without a HC in between, Jerry gets to feel like a HC.

Buy, Jerry is keeping him here.

Garrett gets an OC next year (if here). Buy or sell?

Jerry gives Garrett a contract extension...probably make him one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL.

Depends on what happens.

If we go 3-13, he's gone. So sell in that instance. If he's 8-8 he'll probably be here next year.:bang2:

I don't know how a 6-10 season will strike Jerry but I would sell Jerry, Jason & the offensive line for peanuts...

I think Jerry would be much more amenable if this season continues at a sub .500 level to making this change. Jerry may be stupid but he doesn't like to look stupid, and a 7-9 season will call for some changes - anything to deflect from him and change the recipe without firing the cook.

Plus, without playcalling he's really nothing more than a figure head because his game management is abysmal.
To which I would reply he's not managing the game well because he is having to run the gameday offense. I see this as merely cause and effect.

He still may suck at just one but he is clearly overwhelmed and underperforming at both.

So long as the two people immediately subordinate to Jerry are the OC and DC without a HC in between, Jerry gets to feel like a HC.
I don't think he wants to feel like the HC, I think he wants to be the George Lucas of the NFL - it's his and he wants it his way and he will scabpick and do whatever he wants because nobody tells him no and nobody has any authority to override him. I detest them both.

buy or sell

Dez will reach his full potential as an NFL receiver?

We'll they're not winning 8-8 games, so that scenario is out.

Sell, Garrett was brought here to call plays. If he is still head coach, he's still calling plays.

Rob Ryan is the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys (interim or otherwise).

Buy or sell?

Buy unless they really tank the rest of the year and the fanbase revolts. Jerry's ego is at stake here if you really think about it.

JG is Jerry's handpicked, groomed and "developed" coach. Unlike when he let go of Wade, canning Garrett and hiring another coordinator will not buy him any more free passes with the fanbase. He is essentially trapped like he was with Campo, because a new hire would probably have to entail a big name that has more control over things. He would have to bring in another Parcells type to help right the ship he steered down the wrong path (Payton, Gruden, Holmgren). It could cement his legacy as a boob if that coach returned the Cowboys to glory.

No, he would rather mire in mediocrity than deal with that.

Sell, he just doesn't have it upstairs.

Buy or sell, in two years there will be a loud cry on this board that Murray is washed up, injury prone, no good, etc.?
