This is not a good year to want to trade down. I do not see a team that could want to give up a 2nd round pick to trade all the way up with Dallas. I do think that would have been a possibility if Carson Wentz was still there but it looks like Cleveland will take him first. Goff is a very good player but is limited physically with his arm strength. Paxton Lynch has all the tools but is extremely raw. The other players all have holes in their game from either a talent perspective or a production standpoint. I bring this up because a lot of people want to trade down but you have to have someone willing to trade up. The question I have is this: Would you guys be upset if Jerry traded from 4 all the way to 9 for just a 3rd round pick? I think Tampa is very high on Ramsey and Dallas could use an extra 3 rounder. They would definitely win on the value chart though. I think a team might be willing to part with a 3rd for a player slightly out of their range, but I don't see a team being willing to give up a 2nd. This team has a lot of holes and trading down with Tampa would allow them to still get a good player. They would be able to draft Sheldon Rankins, Andrew Billings, or Ezekial Elliot. I think those 3 players would have the most immediate impact right now and could still be had at 9. Rankins and Billings would be perfect for this scheme and would most likely transform this Dline to a very formidable unit which is what is needed if your are going to rush 4 a majority of the time. Elliot would make a huge impact especially since he will touch the ball 22 times a game.

Get above value or right at value...Don't give up the value.

This is not the same as being in the teens or 20s.

Top 5 commands top 5 value in the trade and if you don't get it...stay put and make your pick...even if that means you take a pick that others think you could have gotten in the trade down.

Easy with the wrist slitting. There are three QBs in this class that, despite the propaganda here, will carry top 15 grades by most teams. I think a couple will be top 5.

So if the Cowboys want to make another ginormous mistake and trade the pick to a team with a real GM so that they can draft an irrelevant player further down the draft order that changes nothing, they will have that opportunity. It's a QB starved league. There will be interest.

So you've talked to GMs and know the final value and grades they have placed on the top prospects even though the Combine hasn't taken place?

Might as well just have the draft tomorrow and start training camps next week.

We have the blueprint now after the SB. We can go get the next Talib or Norman now at corner!! ;)

I think Goff is overrated. He does not have a high ceiling and will be another Alex Smith. I do think Wentz can be a franchise QB but Cleveland will take him. Lynch needs alot of work. His mechanics are way off and he relies heavily on arm strength. Are they good players?? Yes but you cant tell me they are better than Elliot or Jack. I would take a QB no problem at 4 if he is worth the slot but I dont think Goff or Lynch are the 4th best player in this draft.

why do you think that?.Alex smiths problem is is accuracy even on medium routes.this is not the case with Goff.

If a team is willing to jump into the top 5, I think they'd be willing to give up a second round pick.

Isn't that what we did when we jumped up to get Claiborne?

If there is a QB there you take the QB
Maybe not the most impactful player next year but the draft is not just about next year
If by some wild set of events there is no QB then I would consider a trade back to 9 but not for a 3rd. A 2nd or the next years 1st would be my price

The QB desperate will always give up the 2nd rounder plus for a potential franchise QB. Especially when you don't have one! I would be willing to trade down for full value but no lower than 10th! That way we can get a top ten pick and pick up the extra 2nd and 3rd to rebuild our defense! :)

The problem with this draft is that there is no separation between the so-called top tier and second tier players. Is Bosa much better than Spence or Lawson or A'shawn Robinson or even Dodd? Is Goff much better than Wentz or Paxton? Is Myles Jack much better than Jaylon Smith or Darron Lee or Leonard Floyd? Jaylon Smith likely won't even be able to play this year due to a torn ACL. Same with the WRs. Same with the RBs although many view Elliott as the best.

This is a deep draft with no clear separation between the top and middle. 2nd Round picks have almost as high a percentage of succeeding as the 1st round picks this year. No team is giving up picks unless the price is low or the team becomes infatuated with a player.

I do think you may see some trade action in the 2nd round as teams look to trade their 3rd and later picks to get another 2nd round pick.
