I am happy to have the kid.
He has big time athleticism, good college production albeit at a small school, played and practiced well at the Senior Bowl, well-liked teammate and just overall good citizen.
I am really pulling for the kid. It's been a long time since we hit on a 4th rounder. I think the last time we really hit was way back in 2005 with both Barber and Canty becoming high quality starters.
Since then we've had guys like that Washington QB/WR, AOA, Arkin, McGee, Brandon Williams and Victor Butler. The best of the lot has probably been Butler who could play backup OLB and rush the passer decently and was probably severely underused here in all honesty. The jury is almost out on Arkin but I still have hope that we may yet get something out of Matt Johnson and Kyle Wilber but the change to 4-3 probably hurts Wilber more than anyone else on the roster - I don't think he's going to make it at DE.
I think he's got a decent shot about reversing the tide of our 4th rounders if Matt Johnson doesn't stay healthy and beat him to it.
We need to start hitting more on 2nd-5th rounders where I think we've been a bit weak the last several years. There are signs of this turning around so whatever they are doing seems to be working. I just wished they had drafted a DL in this last draft.
