*mods, can you make this into a poll?*

by and large, is everyone happy w/ the decision to go w/ Wade as HC? it's okay to disagree, we have all offseason to debate it, I never really heard the thoughts of those who were rooting for other candidates on the Wade hire, and whether they think it's good or not, or maybe I missed it, but a poll result would be easier to gauge

Yes... very happy with Phillips. He was my choice from the first because of what he can do for our defense. Even with no personnel additions, he'll make our defense much, much better... and much more fun to watch.

Attack, attack, attack!

I'm so glad it isn't Norv and back to the 4-3 with Rivera.

Given the fact we committed to the 3-4 and have the players to suit it, I'm glad we didn't go with a Riveria (would necessitated wasting time changing back to a 4-3); same would apply to Rex Ryan. Wade Phillips was best candidate for the job but did think about an offensive minded coach cause that's the area we also need upgrade--OL, Romo development, etc but was concerned about Norv as a H/C but same also goes for Wade. But yes I'm satisfied with Phillips hiring and recent Sherman hire as WR coach.

Would like to see us move a little faster to finish out our coaching staff so the team can spend time resigning our FAs & studying other teams' FAs. But I guess they (including Phillips) might still be doing that while also contacting desired/interested coaches around the NFL.

I like the Wade Phillips hire and the way the acquisition of the assistant coaching staff in process. I think the Cowboys will truly be a tight knit group and will be better for it. It beats worrying about the alternative.

Love the hire!!! Our D will be in the top 3 next season. Our D is loaded with talent that wasn't being use properly. As for our O it is just as talented as our D. Next season is gonna be great to be a Boyz fan.. I'm hyped!!!

I like it. He'll bring good coaches with him. We seriously need a good staff. What I saw last year was not a good coaching team. :(

I'm quite happy with the selection of Phillips and think he will do the job in Dallas. If we were talking a total rebuilding of the team Phillips may not be the guy I would want but I think this is the perfect situation for Phillips and his style of coaching.

I'm CONTENT with it, depending on his assistants. Right now I'm worried quite frankly. Dat and his kid? Very inexperienced choices. Ray Sherman? Very experienced, solid pick IMO.

I was also a little concerned about Dat becoming a coach so quickly with little exeperience but I have to think about Wade and Bowles being the coaches in charge and Wade doing most of the teaching. Wade will have his hand deep in the defense and I am encouraged by that more than any new coaches they pick up on defense. I hope they are able to get Ted Cottrell as a coach also. I know he is working in the league office and is also a candidate for an opening with the Chargers (probably DC) but I think he would load the bases on defense with Phillips, Bowles,Cottrell and a talented defense up to bat.

The offense seems to really be coming together also. Dont know too much about the Chryst coach from Wisconsin but seems to have had some success and fairly young. He's been a coordinator at big-time college level and his offense has broken school record. Love Garrett and Sparano tandem. Still think Alex Gibbs would be a great advisor for the offensive line.

Overall I think Wade was probably the best hire for this team because of the defensive genius he will provide. Remember that Marty was still losing in San Diego before Wade was hired and they LT and Brees. The NFC is a very weak conference and the Cowboys probably have the most talented team in the conference on paper. The great thing about Wade will be ability to keep the team loose and allow his assistants the opportunity to coach and run the offense. Parcells may have let Sparano call the plays but he was in the mix too much.

I was really hoping they'd interview Rex Ryan, since he has experience with the 3-4, as well.

I also was intrigued by the Singletary idea, since I thought he could do a better job at motivating the players and help them be more productive.

I admittedly thought it was risky to break in a first-time head coach with the perceived talent that we have.

Given that, I could understand that it was really between Norv and Wade.

I'm VERY happy with Wade, especially given the history that each of them have as head coaches.

I don't guess there's any way to know yet whether or not this was a good hire, but it is the hire that I would have made. He was my favorite candidate, and I think he was the best fit.

Considering that San Dogs defense was ranked # 10 last season, and the Dallas Cowboys Defense was ranked # 13, just how much better do you think we will be?

At this point, I think the Jury is way out on Wade P.

His coaching record sucks...Playoffs 0-3.

This hire could be a Dave Campo redux.

He wasn't my first choice, but he was the best of the coaches with head coaching experience. Given that Jones did a thorough search, and interviewed the people I wanted him to touch base with, I am reasonably happy with the whole process, and not at all disappointed by the choice.

I think Wade gives Jones the flexibility to bring in some hot young guys. The staff is shaping up and we'll see how it goes. But I suspect a lot of the success of this team is going to depend on the scouts. Hopefully the new scouting unit that Parcells installed will do us proud and give Wade the horses to win.

David.
