Wade Phillips, the eternal boy-with-the-raincloud over his head, is doomed to fail agin next year.

Why?

He won't be able to quell the lockerroom poisons that have brewed and slopped over its sides of the cauldron stirred by the likes, and not limited to, T.O. and TNew.

Too, and perhaps the most important aspect of Wade's unnecessary stewardship next year: The players still won't take him seriously and the players still won't be afraid of him in practice or games or on the plane back after losing by 38 points.

So by keeping the Clown Wade Phillips next year the team grows older, the aura of it being a competitive team wears off, some are lost to injury or FA and it allows other younger teams to ascend in their place.

You can't put off the destiny of this good team in the making.

The Cowboys is a talented team but not motivated.
Skilled but not well-led.
Well paid but not accountable.

By the time Jerra wises up and gets a Cowher or Shanahan or that there Spagnuolo from the Giants or Stoops, this team will be on the descent.

Then it is rebuilding time again.
I appeal to you, citizens of Rome and its fine suburbs, Dallas Cowboys' destiny should not wait on Wade.

Give us back our team, Jerra.
We yearn to breath free and breath proud, by heck!

You are correct.

This team will need to be blown up in a year or 2.

Jerry has set our franchise back about 5 years by keeping Wade.

The contracts of T.O., Barber, and Hamlin are going to kill us.

Every day we delay, we delay any chance of turning things around. But we must again return to the problem - changing hand puppets doesn't change the show. Unless Jerreh does something radical, akin to his hiring of Parcells, then it doesn't matter what powerless, emasculated, figurehead puppet Jerreh has his fist in... we'll all be getting fisted.

Agreed. We need a new coach. I'm really not even looking forward to next year because I just know it'll be another huge let down. This team just doesn't seem to care anyore. So why do I? I dunno...

I have never been more pesimistic about the next season as I am now.

I have zero faith that "new Wade" is suddenly going to feild a competitive, well disciplined, hungry team next year.

I just dont see it...........If Wade could fix the problem, why didnt he do it during the season or at least by the last freaking game???

I am sorry, but this "new Wade" crap is nothing but a snowjob on the fanbase.

I cant even look forward to the dam draft because we dont have a first rounder, instead we have a WR that cant run a dam route correctly.

This will likely turn out worse than "new Coke" and that's saying something.

I always felt that Jerry Jones was in the business of winning so I have no idea why he is so emphatic about keeping a coach around who hasn't had any meaningful success in the NFL.

The only way for Wade Phillips to retain any modicum of respect if he decides to get tough is that he has to convince the players that they failed to police themselves, they totally blew it and now he has to reign them in.

Also key to this, Jerry Jones has to back Wade Phillips in whatever he does.

Great post man. Standing pat on this issue is wrong on so many levels...

1. The players are not going to suddenly take to a more stern approach from powder puff. It would be foolish to think they can.

2. Our scouting department has done a really good job of assembling a core of very talented players. As we all know, players need good coaches to put it all together as a team. As the years add up, we get closer to the time when we really have to start looking to rebuild... It would totally suck to go through another cycle with not one playoff win.

3. Wade is Jerry's puppet and Jerry coddles every player on this team. IMO that doesn't bode well for Wade's new "tougher" stance on things... The players know who really runs the show... It's Daddy Jerry Warbucks...

4. Wade came right out and stated Brian Stewart will retain his job. LMAO.... Seriously... Stewart has been stealing money from Jerry ever since he was relieved of the ridiculous job he was doing as DC. & Wade is keeping "his guy"... Send both Wade and Stew elsewhere to give Wade plenty of time to develop "his guy" if he can't let him go. This little developmental activity is taking away from the task at hand which should be to go deep into the playoffs. Stewart should feel so guilty that he voluntarily goes to Jerry and offers to give some of that money back...

5. Nevermind.. I'm getting pissed off. I'll stop here.

Jerry is looking for continuity. I get that. Is this the right coach to start with?
I doubt it. I still think the main plan is to have Garrett take over as the next HC. The problem is the team suffers with the same ole while Garrett gets on the job training.

Hope fully Phillips gets backing from Jones to set some players straight.
Garrett stops listening to his WRs and installs an offense that isn't focused on big names, but what is given.

It's all we got fellas. Hope.

That's a good one.

Jerry's all about winning "his way". Wade is a good ol boy who is a good DC and doesn't mind Jerry's meddling since this is likely his last HC job in the league. So therefore now is the time for "continuity". Jerry is comfortable with his lame duck puppet HC.

And you don't see firing the staff and trying to hire a new head coach who must put together a staff as a huge gamble?

You know, even if a guy who had won recently (Cowher) was available, that doesn't mean he'd uproot his family and move to Dallas. Who is available that has won recently? Who is available that fits our personel or who could put together a staff ready to roll in the first year? I hear fans claiming we have a "dumb" team...I hope that isn't true, but if it is any idea of winning with a new coach in the first year is sort of silly.

It's all a gamble, a big one, but I think going with a coaching staff in place is less of a gamble that starting over. If it doesn't work, you can start over a year from now. If the new coach fails, you're back in a dark hole for a few years.

It's a bigger gamble to hire a guy who has never won anything of importance anywhere he's been all the while undermining him.

You know, there might not need to be as many coaching changes if Jerry would stop hiring losers like Campo, Wade and Gailey and Switzer. In almost 20 years he's hired 6 HC's and only two, Jimmy and Parcells, deserved to be given the job. The other 4 were total wastes, but Jerry just has to do it "his way" until he gets desperate and has to come calling on another legit football man to save his butt.

So, you are saying . . . that I am like a genius?

And all you disgruntled fans need to call Valley ranch and leave a message that you will no longer buy into jerra's merchandising schemes until he gets serious about having a real coach. Not just a puppet.

I will call today. And believe me, enough people call in to protest, word WILL filter up to Jerra and his marketing henchmen.
