This is the one position moving to more of a zone scheme has really affected their play, when they play a ton of press coverage under both Quinn and Zimmer. What is maddening to me is seeing corners play 10 yards off in 3rd and short situations or playing such a soft zone in third and long. Add in the loss of Parsons and they have to cover longer and it has led to the league worse third down defense.

Steward-he has played best out of all the corners. It shouldn't be a surprise as he played in Eberflus scheme last yr with the Bears. He is comfortable playing zone coverage and has good reactionary skills.

Diggs-probably came back too soon from major injury, reportedly was benched from missing rehab time. When he did play, he was getting torched on a given week. Giants/Bears he was just awful. Complained about playing more man coverage, but was getting beaten over the top every week. His future is very much in doubt after that strange incident at home that nobody knows what truly took place. Question is, will the Cowboys allow him to suit up again? Cowboys do save close to 16 million if they make him a june 1st cut.

Bland-just signed his extension and he has just played marginally better. We just saw him come off an awful game against Arizona, did the same thing against the Packers. He is better then what he has shown this season, perhaps it is getting used to the scheme,

Elam-the camp darling, who has be borderline awful throughout the season. Started opening night and it has continued throughout the season. Doesn't matter what coverage he has played. He isn't expected to be resigned after the season.

Bridges-forced to start due to the Diggs suspension. Broncos targeted him almost on every passing play with great success. This shouldn't be surprising for a late rd draft pick then failed to win a roster spot with another team.

*Carson-the are slowly bringing him back from injury. Early reports are encouraging, where they need to give him more snaps to see what he can do. Got injured last yr, before losing all his confidence, perhaps he could fill that backup role next season to take Elam's spot.

*Revel-think we are all disappointed that Revel has yet to play a single snap, but his time to finally coming. We have to keep in mind, he is a green rookie, coming off of major knee surgery. This yr is all about getting his feet wet in hopes he can earn a starting spot next season.

*Butler-he has yet to play this season and have heard nothing about opening up his 21 day practice window. Is this going to be a redshirt season?

In my opinion, if they do let Diggs walk, it opens up another huge hole at the position. Could Revel eventually take his spot? We have zero idea, until we get to see what he can do. Kind of like Wilson at LB, the need will either increase or lesson based on his play down the stretch. I wouldn't spend another high pick at the position and would concentrate more about finishing the front 7, but wouldn't be opposed of adding more depth. Now if Revel, Carson really struggle, they might have no choice.

Corner need could change based on keeping Eberflus and his scheme or not

It is a sneaky need....lol
What I mean is we have some high POTENTIAL players waiting in the wings but you know what they say about potential. Not to mention, a strong front seven reduces the need for top CBs a bit. I recall Diggs and Bland admitting how much our pass rush helped during their career seasons in interceptions.

Yes, finishing the front 7 needs to be the priority. Revel might be the key, but both Carson and Butler could be just as important. Unless they fall aparT down the stretch, rather not have to use another high pick at the position

I think its encouraging Carson was only once in his 18 snaps. With the state of the position being what it is, Id like to see what he does with more run

This is a critical need. I’d spend one of the firsts on the position, I’d also spend an early day 3 pick on CB.

If the quinnen addition solidifies the line, and depending on whether the bring Clark back, they should seriously consider a top flight CB. That can transform your defense. But they have a lot of needs.

Out of all the new players in the secondary this year Steward by far the best . I wouldn’t give up on Elam some talent is there the coaches need go get it out of him, man coverage instead of these soft zone debacles possibly.

I disagree, especially if they will continue with a zone scheme. Zone corners can be found throughout a draft, you draft those press corners high. Also, I think Revel is going to nail down the other starting spot.

Elam has been as bad in man as he has been in zone. It won't be back.

I disagree, especially if we keep this system in place. For example, Steelers for years had a great front 7, with zone corners behind them, none were considered elite high rd selections.

59.6 pff

Ranked 55th

I don’t think the scheme has helped any of the corners.

Off man cover every snap.

He runs a 4.39 40 time.

He would be best in press coverage.

maybe it's just Dallas and the culture, I'd like to see him go to another team and see how they do with the scheme
