That long run vs buffalo showed Jones has a long way to go. That just wasn't a smart play at all.

2:20 mark. Ugh

He pulled a Wilcox ironically who trailed the player down the field. He's a rookie who obv. misread the play/his resp. to book it outside to set the edge as the last line of defense but took a terrible angle after realizing his mistake. Doesn't negate the other positives he displayed in coverage.

true, but you can't make those mistakes and expect a super bowl. if he still does that this year it's a problem

Dude can't locate a ball in the air. I remember the Vikings game in preseason where he gave up a TD and was still looking for where the ball was at at the end of the game. Then we have this **** play...

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...Jarvis-Landry-turns-up-the-speed-for-47-yards

I mean really, play the damn ball Byron!

ehhhhh that's why he's not a corner anymore. he shouldnt be one on one outside of the numbers with a speed wr imo. he did look better as a safety hence the switch.

How high are your expectations for Jones?

I think it's a given he will be a big improvement ...but That's more bc of how crappy our other safeties are...just how good do you think he will be?

Remember the flashes that Pat Watkins displayed. I hope to see that with Jones, and that it sticks.

True, part of growing as a player is learning from mistake. Even then players, even top players will get burned. Only guys who do not screw up here and there are the guys riding the pine.
Jones like all others will make mistakes however if he is making a lot more positive plays than negatives then he will serve the Cowboys well.

I always find it interesting that people will take 1 play out of many taking place in a game as some total make up of a player.

Wow piling on a guy that was a rookie, that played a very solid season considering they had him playing two different positions. When there were guys in the same secondary that have been around much longer making similar mistakes repeatedly.

Everybody gets beat but that play was unacceptable no matter how you slice it. He's supposed to be our guy back there. I understand if Wilcox or Church did that but Byrin can't do that anymore. That was a mental error not a physical one

Yes it was a mental error and guys get faked out of position and once they do they give up plays even vets will from time to time. I'm not making excuses I'm only saying how it is, yes he made a mistake and he will make other mistakes as do all players. QB throw ints even the best but if you are making a lot more positive plays than negative then you are helping the team. Again it was 1 play not a career.

So Deion Sanders must have sucked, why is he in the HOF then? I mean Michael Irvin beat him more times than not....so all the other WR's he shut down don't count...the guy is a bum.
Bust his bust in the HOF, kick him out.....

Key stat: Carr, Claiborne, and Byron Jones each allowed a 100.0+ passer rating last season.

Last year he was the CB they wanted.

Funny how the Jets and Commanders lite him up @ the end of the season..... completely changed the Cowboys thoughts he could play CB.

Hated the idea of moving him around to begin with. Now basically he's a rookie all over again....and a wasted season.

He had the most snaps in 2015 as a Free Safety.
