He’s too important on defense to get any returns IMO.

I specifically addressed your post about Sanders and this was your reply to what I said? You just repeated yourself and didn’t acknowledge my rebuttal at all, it’s like you didn’t even read anything. Just having Downs back there with Turpin could make the opponents think a trick play is possible.

Downs doesn't even have to handle the ball, it could just make the other team worry about something.

I knew you would bring this up and it didn’t make it right. It’s still stupid to put one of your best players in a high risk situation, the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. If Sanders had suffered a major injury returning, don’t even tell me you would have supported that coaching decision. As dangerous as Sanders was, the coach would have been roasted by fans and media alike, rightfully so.

I’m not positive but I think the Giants did this a few years ago with one of their best WR’s or CB’s, guy ended up having a season ending injury IIRC and it didn’t go over well.

The fact that Deion made game changing plays as a returner on a routine basis made using him on special teams make all the sense in the world.

Sanders with the ball in his hands was a touchdown waiting to happen. In 1998 he basically beat the Giants by himself with a long catch, a punt return TD, and a pick six. A year later against Washington a punt return TD by Deion clinched the win.

Saying using Deion Sanders on returns was stupid is like saying it was stupid for Dante Hall and Devin Hester to return kicks and punts. Like Deion, that was literally their forte'.

Some of the biggest highlight plays of Deion's career never would have happened with this train of thought.

Deion was one of the most electric and dangerous return men in the history of the NFL.

Not using him in this regard because you are scared of an injury removes one of the biggest scoring threats the team had and thus weakens them.
