Caleb Downs in play at 12?

"Jeremiah says some teams have Toledo S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren and Oregon S Dillon Thieneman ahead of Downs on their draft board due to Downs’ size and lack of splash plays."



He is a top 10 player in this draft and has good tape but I hope we bring him in as one of the 30 day visits and check out his knee. That knee rumor is worrisome and he didn't run any times drills at his pro day or NFL combine. Very suspicious.

Thieneman... ehh, maybe? Based on athletic upside, in a Jaycee Horn over Patrick Surtain kind of fashion?

But I don't see McNeil at all. He's a similar box-safety type of player but not as good.

If the league reaches for one of those two guys and lets Downs drop to 12, he's just a no brainer, A+ pick.

Don’t discount the Thompson signing at safety . I called for Dallas to go after him months ago knowing he was a FA . And what do you know CP gets hired you get several Cardinal D coaches on staff and they sign him .

He’s a solid young vet that allows Dallas at 12 to either go EDGE or LB . The front seven of this D is desperate for someone to standout .

That’s true, and I believe Thompson will start at SS and do well.

However, I’d love to see us take Downs or even Thieneman with one of those 1st rounders. Either would be great ij that Big Nickel role Parker is going to use a lot.

Unlikely Dallas passes on Downs at 12 if he’s there. Thompson is a good player but he’s better used on the hash, downs is better used in the nickel position
