Per ESPN, Callahan has Costa studying tape of Nick Mangold...

Just more reaffirmation that Costa will be starting this season.

Do they think no one else on the team is better then Costa

He has the right name. He may Costa our Quarterback

I'm sure Nagy, Kowalski, and Bernadeau are watching that same film also.

Awesome. I heard Alan Ball is studying film of Deion so we're all definitely gonna rue him going elsewhere.

If all it takes is studying just have them study the 1992, 1993, and 1995 team all day.

You, sir, are a true comedian.

If you would first explain how that helps them learn how to play in Callahan's system.

One thing I will say, is while I did want us to address our oline, we also are thinking that Costa, Nagy, etc will be the same as they were early on last season.

A full season and offseason and they will improve a ton. I don't think they will ever be all-pro players my any means, but it's not like they're 32 year old progress stoppers.

They are young players, with the right mentality, learning the NFL game. I think we will see a much improved offensive line next year. At least I hope so.

I was simply commenting that the idea of watching tape doesn't cure all woes.

But, maybe you can tell me where you got the idea that Costa was watching the tape to learn Callahan's system from. I didn't read the article but I would think it's for technique.

You know the other teams (like 94 and 96) were pretty good too.

It would be great if he can arm extensions to stop him lunging at defenders.

I think they are trying to teach him and develop him I have seen nothing saying he is the clear cut starter. I have seen ample talk of having 2 to 3 others competing for the job. My hope is Costa can develop into a quality player but I don't see anything as a given in terms of who will start

As much as I would like someone rise up and take the job from Phil Costa, We must remember that he was undrafted and this was his first year as a starter. He did get better as the year went on and he did not have an offseason that would have benefited him greatly. I really don't see where an aging overweight center like Andre Gurode would have performed much better. Let's not forget that Tony Romo threw 31 tds and over 4000 yards. We also had a rookie running back set several team rushing records. Phil Costa must have been doing something right.
