Adam,

So, with the signing of Columbo, Davis, Gramatica, McBriar, and Johnson. What does the Cowboys current cap space look like? I beleive the salary cap is supposed to rise $7M next year, who besides Adams hits free agency next season? Newman becomes a free agent after 2008 right? I found this trinket about his contract. This can't be right can it? He ends in 2008, and who in their right mind would have given a rookie a $15M base salary in 2003 even if it was several years down the line?!?!

Newman agreed to a seven-year contract worth $33.4 million with the Cowboys in July 2003, including a $13.1 million signing bonus and $15 million base salary (!) for 2009.

I also found this from a *supposed* Cowboys fan.

Who in their right minds actually believes that Terrence Newman is a great corner, or top 5 in the NFL? This guy can't cover a stop sign without getting flagged for interference! And as a Cowboys fan I know what I'm talking about...I would give Terrence Newman up in a minute for Nate Clements, who doesn't get burned on the regular.

Thought it amusing. My guess is (by his nick) he is a Falcon's fan born in 89' and hasn't lived long enough to gain the wisdom to know what a good CB is. He attacks Newman at #6 on that list while Deangelo Hall (A Falcon) was at #3 and didn't even mention him.

As far as FA's for next year go, I believe that Davis and Aaron Glenn will be UFA's. Thompson and Ratliff will be RFA's as well.

Newman's 2009 salary is irrelevant because that season will void. And yes, he has an escalator that could make it as high as $15 million, but it's a pointless escalator.

How come Joey Thomas is not listed on our active roster. Isn't he the CB that a few of us were high on a few yrs back?

What's EFA?

ERFA - EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS FREE AGENTS
Exclusive rights free agents are players with two or fewer years of experience who have no outside negotiating power. Their rights belong to their club, provided that club makes him a minimum qualifying offer, which varies based on tenure. An EFA player may not speak with other teams and has no other NFL options open to him other than dealing with his previous club.

Ok, thanks....I was interested in what it was when I read that Saldi was in there.
