Calling it now, our first round pick is...

I'm not a fan of Golden at 12 either....but I will say, he always stood out to me during Texas games (and I'm not a Longhorn or Longhorn fan)
Oh, he is for real and very fast and anytime he and Lamb would be on the field, defenses will end up paying the full price.

I wouldn't be surprised if they take Golden. I do see the value he would bring to this offense/team. Although, I would hope they would do all they could to try to make a small move back first. I think 12 is a little too rich for him. But I doubt they will get a trade partner to pull that off.

A) there isn't any player in this draft worth trading up for.
B) the Cowboys aren't one player away.
C) the Cowboys need more picks not less.
And yet, so many fans on here think it's a given that we will trade back because some team will want someone and be willing to give up high draft picks to come get him.

If we stay at 12 I think it comes down to T Mac, Stewart and Williams.

Id grit my teeth and hope his speed shows up more in the NFL playing opposite Lamb than in college.

One of those picks for that you dont like but you have hope for

Probably a bigger qualm would be I dont think he can be a volume player. For a top 15 pick, I want a guy that can get 90+ receptions. I dont see Golden being that guy
Darth, a 1st yr #2 WR is going to be luck to get 60 receptions.

One of the WRs.

They are looking to salvage Dak anyway they can. I suspect they will go WR/RB in the first two rounds.

I don't get the hype around Golden and don't understand why so many are clamoring to use a Top 12 pick on him.

The 12th pick needs to be a dominant player. Is that Golden? What people are advocating for is using the 12th pick on a #2 WR. That just doesn't seem like the best use of resources there.

But as I said above, we are run by idiots who are desperate to salvage Dak. I have little doubt they think they need to give him more weapons which means I almost expect them to go WR, someone like Golden, at 12.

And yet, it happens every year. This one will be no different.

Golden would be a decent pick but what we need to happen is a generational type player to fall to us. That really would move the needle and mask multiple holes.
Golden @ 1/12 would be a bigger reach than Taco, Mazi or Guyton. Sure seems to be our new MO these days. Go into the draft...reaching for need.

Yeah I hate drafting for need as well. Drafting a guy must be organic. Let the board fall to you. Every year we see multiple players that none of the experts thought would slide. This year will be no different. If we just play it cool and draft strictly based on the board, unless it's a QB, you take that player. We are guilty of getting too cute. The Mazi pick was case and point.

Are you being sarcastic or do you really not like Golden at 12?

I like him but also think he’s one of the most overrated players in the class. We hear the term one year wonder for some players but he’s more like a half season wonder.

44? Sure. 12 seems waaaaaaay too rich for the production profile.
Exactly. I wouldn’t even have him if we traded to 20 (which I think we should, and take someone like Jahdae Barron).

A general NFL draft rule for GMs: Never take a guy too early just because you like him and need help at that position.

Put more simply, always follow your talent evaluation board. Never take a guy at 12 who you have ranked 30th on your board. Don’t do it. We have soooo many needs, taking the guy you have ranked highest in round one is a way better move.

I like Golden but definitely not at 12. He’s not that kind of player. IMO he’s an early 2nd round talent who is being slightly overrated because this is not a deep WR draft, especially early.

Amen Brother! Well said. agree. Round 1 seems too rich for what Golden is. I think our board will bare that out. I see him falling then getting drafted about where he should.

Well said…I’d just had factor in money positions in earlier rounds.
