This guy has lost heart.

He didn't fight for the ball at all on tipped interception.

He didn't go after the ball at the end of the game on the lateral last ditch effort.

Everyone was trying hard to make something happen, except him...

This hurts me a lot since as I have said he was my 2nd favorite player.

didnt they forward lateral before witten got the ball? im sure he knew it was over, so maybe thats why he didnt 'do much' there. idk about the INT dont quite remember....?

You're not taking a popular position around here but I agree, I haven't bee too pleased with some of things Witten's been doing this season.

The dumb penalties...the lack of effort like just staring at that tipped pass against the Vikings and giving a half-hearted effort to tackle the guy and that's not the first time he's done that this season either...his blocking at times is piss poor... One thing I can't stand that he does is when he one-arms a ball, you know, he just reaches out and ends up tipping a ball into the air. It's resulted in two interceptions (I believe) this year and definitely last year (Kenny Phillips INT in Dallas).

I'm sure folks will take it all the wrong way. Criticizing Jason Witten is sacrelgious to some.

it didnt look like a forward lateral to me, and im not sure if the booth could challenge it, but i want the effort.

this was almost as bad as what alex barron did in my eyes. not because it was as damaging, but because of who did it.

Again, Witten is an almost sure thing hall of famer, but he isn't that guy this year.

easy on the sure fire HOFer.....he does not get in the endzone...and that will have to change or he will NEVER see the HOF...especially since he has really been the #1 option here for a long time. Couple that with one playoff win and he is headed for the Hall of Very Good

There isn't a player on this roster that doesn't deserve criticism.
It just shouldn't be over the top for some of them.

Although that was called a forward pass, Miles did the right thing by keeping it going because you never know. The ball was live when it hit the ground. I didn't realize it was Witten who didn't try to do something. I'm disappointed too. Say they eventually scored. Maybe they would've reviewed the so-called forward pass in the booth and then who knows?

I'm a huge Witten fan and I do not question his heart. He has shown toughness and been very clutch for us throughout the years. But I have to say, despite being in his prime age-wise, he has looked "old" the past couple of seasons. He started young out of college and has taken many hits and played through tons of injuries. He is different than he was a few years ago. He is still very, very good, but I think he has lost a step. I can't explain the penalties. He is still a strength of this team, but just not as dominant as he once was.

Yea, ever since his concussion and ranting and raving on the sideline, he just hasnt been the same.

Maybe there is something to all of this concussion talk after all, it just seems like something is not right with Witten.

Or it could be he knows they are never going to win jack with Wade and Garrett running the show, so why bother. Maybe he just doesnt care anymore.

I dont know, but Witten is just not the same player he used to be.

Wow, you call out Jason Witten for lost heart and say nothing in your Dez Bryant thread about him crapping his pants on a huge third down play. Nice job.:starspin

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that play on Sunday and his general deteriorating production lately.
Maybe he is suffering from some injury or post-concussion stuff, but all year he looks like he is playing in a fog...more false starts, not giving effort after interceptions, getting blown up by corners and safeties while blocking in space.
I'm not sure what is wrong, but the lack of effort thing is really bothersome...whether it's true or simply perceived....I'm sure his teammates notice this stuff as well and that can't be good for team morale.

Sure Hall of Famer? Check
Played well enough that he isnt the issue? Check
Has made a few mistakes? Check
Isnt tough enough anymore? Fail
Lost his heart? Fail
Doesnt care anymore? Fail

Drama Queens of cowboyszone strike again? Check

its very possible the concussions are adding up/he is getting worn down because he has taken a lot of hits over the years.

I thought I saw him catch a pass a run a dude over Sunday like he wasn't there, must have been a replay from another year I guess.

.....and I saw Bryant score a td, run over about a half dozen Vikings on two punt returns and it took half the team to bring him down on that final punt return....must of been a different game I watched.

No one is allowed to criticize St.Witten in this forum...the guy's play has been mediocre at best this season.

lol....yes I did...you do realize the coaching staff instructed him to field the punt and make a play right?

I suppose you didn't see how fired up he got when he converted a 3rd and 8 in the 4th. Yeah, he sure did lose his heart <rollseyes>

There is nothing wrong with criticizing Witten. The problem is that the criticism that he lacks heart is just wrong. There is nothing that shows that Witten lacks heart. He should be criticized for his false starts. That is a true issue. The guy has a ton of heart.
