Ill be in Europe mid April for a couple weeks so I won't be around to do it closer to the draft. Getting my shot call in a little early

I think its going to be between two players:

Deonte Banks I think is going to be their main target. Good chance he doesnt get there, but I think if he is they run that name up. I think if the CB goes to the Eagles ( or after) I think there is a decent chance at Banks (the likely 4th CB drafted) makes it to 26.

If Banks is gone, I think it will be Will McDonald. Long and explosive he fits what Quinn wants on the edge to a T. In a weaker class he is probably a top 20 pick and I think they will grade him as that.

TE is still a possibility, but I dont them dropping a first on a TE with a CB like Banks or an edge like McDonald on the board

I will throw a wild card out there for you too. Gervon Dexter. Why Dexter? Cowboys met with two DT's in the combine and Dexter was one of them. Some say he is a 2nd rounder, but I also some teams may grade him higher. Cowboys could be one of those teams. He scored very well at the combine, and even with average arm length (32), he has the build of a 3T/4i. Likely the 26th pick? No. But a wild card to keep in the back of your mind

Enjoy the trip man!

I will guess that it'll be Steve Avila (doesn't make sense IMO, but there's way too much smoke) or Dalton Kincaid.

Will McDonald would also be a fun one.

Im like 90% certain they are going ol at 26
The reason I agree with you is 58 is kind of no man’s land and the top interior offense of lineman appear to be at the bottom of the first or above the middle of the second I’m guessing. We gotta get the interior left guard solidified it’s a mantra in my sleep at night

At 26 I think it would be Bijan Robinson, Nolan Smith, or Michael Mayer, or they will trade back and it might be oline.

Let’s see how the rumors and visits go. The Cowboys legitimately can line up today without the draft. I think a top 15 guy falls to 26.

Spolier alert, the pick will be Luke Musgrave.

Same…

I wouldn’t be happy but if I had to guess the Cowboys will reach for a G and they have a hard on for position flex.

Reach per the usual.

Banks or McDonald would make sense as far as value return. Wouldn't love it hate it.

Dexter, on the other hand = 3rd round talent. I'd be surprised and miffed at that for first pick.

I think this is going to be an offensive heavy draft for us. All the resignings have been on defense sans the Cooks trade. We couldn’t move the ball against SF and that’s what they will try to change.

That’s my shot

Mine is that McCarthy has said we are going to be more run-heavy, so our first two picks will be an offensive lineman and a running back. I'll go Gibbs in the first and Schmitz in the second or Torrence in the first and Charbonnet in the second.

I do wonder from that standpoint if a tight end like Darnell Washington would be high on our list because of his blocking ability. We could line up two tight ends with him and Ferguson and have a strong blocking group with the ability to pass to them as well.

If a top 15-18 guy doesn't drop to 26, trade down. Even if it's just 2-3 spots. Be smart and work the draft.

I think they will view Washington like a 2 Down NT, probably won't be interested. Yes, has upside, but more of a project as a receiver.

Whomever the Cowboys take in the first round, it should give us a good indication of future plans in free agency as well.

If they take an OL in round 1, there is no chance they extend both Steele and Biadasz. If they want to extend both, they won’t add a first round contract to the line.

If they take a CB in round 1, no way they plan on extending Gilmore and Diggs. They plan on at least one of them being gone in 2024 if they use the top pick on CB.

Similarly, if they take a DE or rush LB, they probably plan on letting DA and Fowler go after 2023.

If they take a RB in round 1, we can kiss Pollard goodbye after the season.

The only positions that wouldn’t signal future intentions are TE and DT, because we don’t have big deals at those positions or players that would require expensive extensions anytime soon.

For that reason, I see those two positions as the most likely targets for rounds 1 & 2.
