He has already made more money than he will ever need if he hasn't been stupid with it. I'm pretty sure he isn't Clinton Portis. :muttley:

That would be a shame but not totally surprising.

He's 30 and seems to have slowed down a bit the last year or so and he's having to play in Detroit which probably is soul sucking as well.

Sawft like Sanders, Lions make great players tap out. It will likely end up with a deal reworked and (surprise) more energon for Megatron.

I read his statement as more of him wanting to play somewhere else. He just wants to evaluate his options on how to make that happen.

I can see it now. They always take guys like him in and give them a re-birth

Johnson isn't in need of a re-birth. He still had a very good season this year. I think he would do well with the Pats or many other teams if he left Detroit. And the Patriots aren't perfect in their reclamation projects. Chad Johnson was horrible in New England. Reggie Wayne couldn't get out of camp.

Does the Zone think he would put our offense over the top for one season?

Possibly, but he's under contract so he'd have to demand a trade, which I don't see. This is from the article.

Birkett logged a quote from an anonymous former teammate of Johnson's:

"There has been some conversations about it, not asking me how it is. But I think the guy's beat up. I think he's been through enough. And I think it's just his time. He's made the money, got the records, but whatever. I don't know for sure if he's going to do it. I don't know if he's going to get that itch to keep going. I really don't know."
