Cam Newton and Cowboys

It's becoming apparent that we need to draft 6' 9" St Cam, as he can run a 3.0 40 and shoot lightning bolts out his ***. His legend grows daily.

Newton = Quincy/Vick/McNabb....

Would you want any one of those as your QB?

That's stereotypical and racist. All are black quarterbacks. But I guess it will kill people to hear that I compare Cam Newton to Ben Rothlisberger or a Petyon Manning with Michael Vick mobility.

Race to me has nothing to do with it the lack of playing time does. Cam has played 1 year of college unlike Roethisberger who spent 3 years in college producing and honing his skills or Vick and his 2 years at VT or Manning and his 4 years at Tenn.

Cam had a very good year so have many college QB's who have done more and spent the time maturing and improving at the college level before going to the Pros. Cam 1 year and we give up a top pick to get him? I don't think so. He needed to stay in school another year much as Luck did.

I dont know where to start so Ill just quote this and then type this sentence telling you I dont know where to start

If the Cowboys believe he will be a bigtime player in this league and want to develop him a couple years than im fine with it.

It would be a huge shot at Romo obviously but it would keep the pressure on him and right now the Cowboys keep it a little too comfy for him.

He is Peyton Manning w/ the running ability of Vick. Romo cant compete with that

lol.. I just see him as another Big Ben with better mobility and just as tough to bring down.

He definetely gets a lot of respect from his teammates too.

If Jason thinks he can develop him into a Championship QB then im cool with drafting him.

I'll stick to the Parcells Rules on drafting QB

Parcells' criteria for quarterbacks really don't have much to do with on-field performance. . .rather, it seems to be more focused on how mature an individual is and whether he feels they could handle the burden of learning the toughest position in professional sports.

His rules are as follows:

1.The quarterback must be a senior. . .because you need time and maturity to develop into a good professional quarterback
2.He must be a graduate. . .because you want somebody that takes their responsibilities seriously.
3.He must be a three-year starter. . .because you want to make sure his success wasn't a fluke and to know that he has been "the guy" for a significant period of time.
4.He must have 23 wins. . .because big numbers don't mean a whole lot if you don't win.

Looking at guys like Aikman,Elway,Montana and Manning that is exactly what they all did. Unlike other position the QB spot in my view requires the time at the college level. No doubt the lure of money is big but I think a QB gives himself a better chance for longer term success by staying in school to become the best they can be. I respect the heck out of what Luck did, clearly if he came out this year we are not talking Cam or another QB being the 1st pick. Luck instead choose to continue honing his skills before making the leap.

The Cowboys aren't drafting Newton so this thread is just a waste of energy. Another troll trying to get a reaction.

I don't know but it is getting to the point where I might have to put some curlers in and pull a Big Worm on him...

So Romo lovers, you are disregarding what our very own Stephen Jones had to say about Cam Newton when he was asked about the kid not so long ago. We all know that it will take Cam a couple of years, maybe, to get acclimated to the NFL. But to say he played in a tricked up offense at Auburn is asinine. His offense at Auburn was no different than the offense run by Missouri who had Blaine Gabbert at the controls, yet Gabbert is getting all the props in the world and most are saying HE will be the first quarterback taken in the draft. That in itself is asinine also. Give me the choice between Cam and Gabbert, I'll take Cam Newton. I saw quite a few games of both those teams last season and Cam Newton is the better quarterback with more potential. As I've stated before, if Cam Newton is on the board at pick nine when Jerry is on the clock and he passes on a possible franchise quarterback and allow the Commanders to scoop him up with the very next pick at pick ten. We will have another Randy Moss revisited. Cam Newton and the Commanders will be kicking our rear ends for the next ten years. You draft Cam Newton and put him behind Tony Romo and I can just about guarantee you tha Cam will have Romo's job by year two. He's just that good. Do pay attention to what Stephen Jones had to say about the kid. He knows

Cam is a 1 year wonder and the team who gets him will be sorry they did. You can buy the hype if you want

Or, maybe he's just saying that, like Newton, all of those QBs had crappy mechanics coming out of college.

BTW, I think Gabbert is a much better comparison to Roethlisberger then Newton.
