Cam Newton and Cowboys

So Romo lovers, you are disregarding what our very own Stephen Jones had to say about Cam Newton when he was asked about the kid not so long ago. We all know that it will take Cam a couple of years, maybe, to get acclimated to the NFL. But to say he played in a tricked up offense at Auburn is asinine. His offense at Auburn was no different than the offense run by Missouri who had Blaine Gabbert at the controls, yet Gabbert is getting all the props in the world and most are saying HE will be the first quarterback taken in the draft. That in itself is asinine also. Give me the choice between Cam and Gabbert, I'll take Cam Newton. I saw quite a few games of both those teams last season and Cam Newton is the better quarterback with more potential. As I've stated before, if Cam Newton is on the board at pick nine when Jerry is on the clock and he passes on a possible franchise quarterback and allow the Commanders to scoop him up with the very next pick at pick ten. We will have another Randy Moss revisited. Cam Newton and the Commanders will be kicking our rear ends for the next ten years. You draft Cam Newton and put him behind Tony Romo and I can just about guarantee you tha Cam will have Romo's job by year two. He's just that good. Do pay attention to what Stephen Jones had to say about the kid. He knows
We get it. You love Newton. You don't like Romo. The skins will take Newton if we don't, and Newton will own the Cowboys for the rest of his career.

Oh, and Jerry Jones will regret passing on Newton.

Is there anything I missed?

Gabbert is getting all the love because he displayed the ability to make all the throws, with accuracy and from behind center in his workouts. He also has no baggage and he's interviewed much better then Newton. Plus, they are very similar athletically.

This isn't really rocket science.
Your right. I'll take game film over combine film any day.

Take what you want.

Let me know when the NFL comes around and starts paying for your opinions.

As of now, I think that most scouts believe that Gabbert is the number one QB in this class.

A class that is not that strong at QB.

I agree. I honestly think that the best QB out of this class will come from one of the QBs who is picked later.

Your not the only one

If you haven't noticed, this year's quarterback draft class is very weak. There's no quarterback in this draft that's a sure-fire, top-notch, can't-miss NFL prospect, which should turn teams off from selecting one with a first-round pick.

That being said, many teams in the NFL are desperate for a quarterback, which means they will take a chance on a guy like Blaine Gabbert, Jake Locker, Cam Newton or Ryan Mallett in the first round.

The problem is none of these guys are NFL-ready. This year's draft has the best chance of producing a franchise quarterback from a later round, maybe even an undrafted player.

Tom Brady, Matt Hasselbeck, Matt Schaub, Matt Cassel, Kyle Orton and Tony Romo all went in Round 3 or later. Brady and Hasselbeck went in the sixth round, Cassel in the seventh and Romo wasn't drafted, and all of these guys were or are franchise quarterbacks and were very productive in the prime of their careers.

I've been saying the same thing for months.

I still think Ryan Mallett is by far the most talented passer in the class. If he works hard I think he'll be eons better than any of the guys picked before him.

And I like Ponder too if he stays healthy.

I wouldn't say that.
They just don't have a "sure thing" type QB. The depth of this QB class is pretty good though.

The QB I like in this class is Kaepernick. I also like Locker but I don't like either one to start. If either one of these guys could go to a team where they didn't have to play immediately, I think they could both turn into pretty good QBs. JMO.

There are decent prospect I don't disagree. Where it is weak is the at the top. Cam had a great year but he has 1 year of college ball the other top Prospect do not overly impress me either. Frankly I would not be shocked to see one of the later rd QB over time develop into a good QB. For me this is not a draft I would use a high #1 to take.

I'll be sure to do that. And could you return that favor also..?

I absolutely will. When the Cowboys don't trade up to take Newton and don't pick him at 9, I will ping you first thing.

How's that?
