If Cam waited and came out after his senior year, would he have been the 2nd QB taken instead of RG3?

1). Luck
2). Cam
3). RG3

Depends on who was picking 2nd..

Good point. Some teams didn't have Cam rated that high. Mallet was supposed to be the QB most ready to play in the pros. Cam had some serious questions about his ability to run a pro offense.

Same draft order as this past draft.
Then you're really just asking if the Skins would have picked Newton over RG3 lol...

If the Rams still have the #2 pick and all three QBs are coming out, they definitely still trade out of that spot. I think Shanahan has zero problem still taking Griffin, but I don't think RG3 would be projected to go before Newton. So the Skins would jump up to the #3 spot to grab Griffin and give up less doing so...and I could see the Browns trading to the #2 spot to get Newton. The Rams take Blackmon at #4...the Vikings take Claiborne at #6...the Cowboys take (??) at #14 because they can't trade up now lol...

Wasn't there some article that talked about what might have happened if Luck entered last year's draft instead of this year's draft, and all the ramifications that could have resulted? That one was a doozy lol...

No doubt in my mind that Shanahan would have still taken RG3 over Cam. We probably wouldnt have had to give up as much or move up at all. I dont think there would be as much demand to move up to #2 because the fall back would be the other QB. I do think the order would have been Luck, Cam then RG3.

Id still take RG3 over cam. Cam might have a nice long ball but RG3 seems way more versatile and complete. Also the team players go to really matter, who can work with such player and who can laern in what system.

I don't understand how you can say that... Cam Newton has made those throws into a tight window in the NFL...it remains to
Be seen whether RG3 can do the same...that is what the NFL is all about, those finesse throws where you put it on a dime.

If anything, all we know about RG3 is that he's got a good deep ball

My opinion

1) Cam

2) Luck

3) RG3

Would that have been your opinion before Cam had the good rookie year ? If so, you were one of the few.

Probably not, I would still take Luck over both. Luck might not have as good a season as Cam next year but he projects better in the long term.

And that he's extremely good at throwing on the run, whether running to his left or to his right...

And that he's got a strong arm--able to throw accurately with little more than a whip of his arm...

And that he's got a lot of the intangibles that you want in a franchise QB...

I meant relative to cam newton.I kind of figured I should have clarified

I think RG3s athleticism speaks for itself. You'd have to elaborate on the "intangibles"

Yes he can heave it down field on the run, but on a bootleg into coverage? I don't think anyone can say for sure..

I just don't understand how you could say that, when Cam has a year, a terrific one at that, already under his belt

Nope. I absolutly love Luck. I have been on his bandwagon since October 2010. I think he will be a great QB and is as prepared as any QB to play in the NFL.

Cam though, that is a special skill set with that size, speed and surprising arm. I didn't think he had that kind of accuracy nor deep ball touch at Auburn.

The things you can do with Cam you can't do with Luck (Cam has the better arm) or RG3 (Cam has the better size)

And clearly Cam can pick up the pro game and process information quickly. Going from a play call of "36" to whatever Chudnzki had him calling last year, with no OTA's or offseason, and throwing 4 TDs and 400 yards in his first game was damn impressive.

RG3 and Luck will be terrific QBs, but Cam has a skillset which they simply do not. And he clearly has the ability to mentally figure out the NFL game.

Luck would still be the first pick.

My guess is the Commanders don't make the trade. Cam goes to Cleveland. The Commanders still end up with Griffin.

sam here I think the Skins are going to be happy with RG3 and I think hes there man regardless whos on the board.

Cam Newton's size makes him the pick ahead of RGIII. Luck would still be the top QB taken, it is simply about NFL polished system. But RGIII, while not small, still looks frail next to Cam who is chiseled.
