I would like to start off by saying that this is purely hypothetical on my part, but do you the Dolphins will look to trade Wake now that they are switching to the 4-3? I don't believe he has the skill set to play 4-3 OLB and at 6'3 250 the odds of him playing De are slim to none. A trade seems like their most logical move with a young talented player. So(hypotheticaly) what would you trade in draft picks to get Wake? A 2nd and a 5th maybe?

i like him but in this scenario he would likely be a candidate to be cut.

Wake was rated by one grading service as the #1 3-4 OLB... Yeah, #1.

If the Dolphins gave him away for a 2nd a 5th, then the Cowboys would have to seriously consider it.

I've read that Miami is looking to make him the 4-3 WOLB and has no intentions to trade or cut him.

Really? Didn't see that. I can't see him covering anybody in space. He's a stocky explosive athlete, but I don't see him as being agile or having much straight line speed after 10 yards or so. I would think the Dolphins would be better off trading him for a younger, cheaper player in the draft that is a true fit in their scheme to rebuild.

This. He can play OLB in a 43 but it would more then likely be in the best interests of the Dolphins to put him on the block and see who offers what.

Even though he doesn't fit as well in their new defense, I can't see them trading him. He's their only star on D.

Makes you wonder if that grading service has ever heard of a player by the name of DeMarcus Ware...

I'm with you, but I think they are still going to use him as a rusher more on the weakside than a cover guy. Much like how Denver uses Miller.

I agree. I think they will try to make it work in a variety of ways before considering a trade. So a trade probably wouldn't happen until just before the trade deadline or most likely, the next offseason, if it doesn't work out.

You don't just get rid of your best defensive player.

Every time I see his name I just wonder why the heck did he have to play in Canada first?

Funny, Pat Jones was talking about him this morning. Said he came out as a linebacker and his tape wasn't good at all... Basically, he couldn't play. But he said that vertical jump he did was just shocking, really outrageous. It got everyone's attention, but it wasn't enough to overrule his tape. Said he had to go play with his hand on the ground in Canada where all he did was "sic em" to find himself as a player.

Anyway, I doubt the Fins would just give him away simply because they're going to a 43.

I think pretty much every team in the league would have to consider it to be honest.

Which really makes the projected move to a 4-3 even more confusing for the Fins.

They got a good defensive 3-4 line, with quality depth, not to mention Dansby and Wake as their top 2 linebackers.

They also just signed Burnett to a 4 year deal, who probably would project to be a Weakside linebacker in a 4-3, so I don't see Wake(who sucked in coverage) having a legit shot at beating him there.
I don't see why they don't throw him at RDE, maybe have him bulk up to 260-265 or so.

I think they will use him like the Giants do/did Kiwanuka. He will be asked to mostly zone blitz when standing at WLB and he will be a DE in nickel and dime passing situations. I see him still being a double digit sack guy in that role. If they do move him without a proven commodity in return they may have a worse FO than us.
