for the first time ever Camp Poke took to the road and went to an away game.

The Texans fans have a reputation of having a great tailgating experience.
It is a pretty well deserved reputation.

Parking lots opened at 8am and by 7 am vehicles were double parked and lined up on the freeway access roads waiting to get in the lots.

We had a spot in a quieter, less frenzied lot (purple) but it was full of folks tailgating. A LARGE number of Cowboys fans were there !!

Had it set up shortly after 8 am

These are some folks from Pennsylvania that I met at last years opening game. They decided to come here this year so we met up again.

Our seats were by the texans tunnel.

Tony was directing traffic all day, on almost every play he would tell Gurode something and slap him on the shoulder. Looked like he was telling him who to block.

Notice how everybody is watching to make sure it is actually good ?

Very good offensive line play this game

So the Texans have this little toy cannon they fire after every score.
That sucker is LOUD. They fired it too soon in the 3rd quarter thinking they had scored , that was the drive where Brooking sacked Schaub and they settled for a FG.

It was a great day to be a Cowboys fans !

Overall I thought the Texans fans were pretty cool, they were helpful in the parking lot area and fun to talk with.

Inside the stadium the guy sitting behind us was mad the minute he saw Cowboy fans in "his" section. He kept mouthing off and finally asked if I bought those seats. I told him of course I bought them cause nobody gives you tickets to a Cowboys game. He left with 9:23 on the clock. !!!

Reliant is a cool stadium but I have one complaint. After every first down the announcer congratulates them on getting a Houston Texans...and then the crowd hollers "first down". Only other games I have seen that at were high school and arena football games. That got quieter as the game went on.

Very loud " lets go Cowboys " chants in the second half had all the Texan fans just frothing at the mouth.

The Cowboys did a GREAT job dealing with the noise early and then the flow of the game quieted down the crowd.

We may go see the Boys somewhere else again but to be honest, theres no place like home so maybe we wont.

sorry for picture quality and quantity, my camera quit so had to use the wifes little camera.

What percentage of the fans at the game would you say were Dallas fans?

I went there once for a preseason game they played against Tampa Bay in 2006. The stadium was literally 10 minutes from my old house in Pearland. The tickets were given to me for free and I wanted to check out the stadium.

The guy that gave me the tickets had a parking pass, but it was in a shared lot with what looked like a courthouse. I saw people going in and out for traffic court.

The traffic flow in and out of the stadium via automobile was horrible. I literally had to drive through a ghetto lined with cheap apartments to get to my parking spot.

Reliant Stadium is nice overall, but the traffic flow and overall experience at Cowboys Stadium is unmatched. I had no problems getting in and out of the game at Cowboys Stadium, and had a blast with other fans while I was there.

i am going to say 20% were Cowboy fans.
i have been seeing Texan fans say 30 to 35 % but i dont agree.
i think they are exaggerating because the Cowboy fans got so loud later in the game.

They did this in Denver when I was there last season.

We had loads of Cowboys fans in our section. Man, it was fun. My voice is still hoarse.

Have you ever been to a game at the Cotton Bowl?

Westridge street is not ghetto. It is lined with apartments, but most of them house students.

My one game day experience at Reliant wasnt that bad...at least compared to how bad it was at Texas Stadium. I exited onto S. Main and got home fairly quickly.

My experience at Cowboys Stadium was about the same as Reliant. We got outta there fairly quickly, as well. Just drove down Collins to Division.

At Denver they do something similar..

Tony Romo's pass to Roy Williams is...... "IN-COM-PLETE"

Houston fans this morning on talk radio were calling in about a big fight that broke out after the game in one of the lots.

Poke -- sent you a PM about this as well, but wanted to check and see if you'd be tailgating for the Titans game?

Times have changed; I can recall when South Main was loaded with cheap motels and hookers. That end of town was cleaned up quite a bit

that wouldnt surprise me. fans from both teams were using words and saying things to each other that quite frankly almost always leads to somebody throwing a punch.

i was purposely respectful and a little careful about what i said and who i talked to afterwards because i knew the Texans fans had to be upset.
they were totally sure they were going to win just because they were 2-0 and the Boys were 0-2.

I agree about South Main.. but that particular street he's referencing was always filled with students, because there was never adequate housing for students at UH and TSU.

Not to say non-students don't live there, but that was always a student stomping ground.

There are bone heads everywhere. This game had allot of outside emotions those of us who are Cowboys fan living in Houston truly know the mood of this city when the Cowboys come to town and emotions get hot around here.

I was glad to hear one Texan fan say that where his seats where there were several Cowboys fans and they all had a good time, he said there was some smack talk taking place but it was all in good fun

I think Reliant is a very nice stadium; went to a college game there and it was a great fun day.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I know they have great tailgating. The best in the league I believe I've read.

Too bad fans from both sides can't act like grownups and start stuff. I don't like hearing that but I do like hearing the Cowboys fans were loud and supportive.

There will be tons of Saints fans at that game this year. Might as well show them a good time and destroy them on the field.

I agree. At todays ticket price no one wants their afternoon messed up because some drunks can't control themselfs.

I went to games for years at Texas Stadium and only saw one fight and that was in the concourse after a game.

People need to grow up and act right. Kids go to those games.

Problem is there is alot of liquid courage flowing all game long. You combine that with Houston hating Dallas fans so much and you get trouble.
