I wouldn't trade Jason Campbell for anyone else in the league right now:

Through Campbell's first 16 games as a professional (at the age of 25) has has 3000 yards, 19 TDs, 6.5 average/completion, 13 INTs, 21 Sacks, and a 78.4 rating. When you think what he has had to overcome (inconsistent play by receivers, Al Saunders' offense, Joe Gibbs' conservatism), why would you think someone else could do better under the same circumstances?

Peyton Manning's first 16 games? Favre's first 16 games? His stats compare favorably with those guys.

Tom Brady has had a fine career in a particular system. He wasn't the best Quarterback in football until he got Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, etc...

Donovan McNabb? Over-rated... always has been. TO made him look better than he was. McNabb averages getting sacked 30 times a season over his career and has a career completion percentage less than 60% in a West Coast Offense (unheard of)...

Tony Romo? He's never played a game without Terrell Owens. If TO could help provide Donovan McNabb with nearly a 105 quarterback rating in one season (20 points higher than his career rating, including the season with McNabb), then I'm sure Tony Romo is reaping the same benefit. If the TO factor is 20 points, then Tony Romo's career QB rating would be 78.9 (about the same as Campbell, and Campbell is 2 years younger with more physical tools). You ever notice when Tony Romo gets into trouble he throws up a prayer in TOs direction?

Carson Palmer? Injuries? star receivers on both sides of him?

Please... Just look at Jason Campbell... He's 25 years old and there are few (if any) quarterbacks in the league with his combination of physical gifts, abilities (inside and out of the pocket), work ethic and upside. Right now, he isn't someone you trade for anyone.

We just need to get Jason the right tools to work with and build this team around our franchise quarterback instead of worrying how to improve the position.
What he said

Jason is really just starting to play the Al Saunders offense, what we we're seeing was a watered down version instrumented by Joe Gibbs.

This thread is ridiculous. Are there really sane people out there that would give Campbell up for the likes of Eli, Garrard or Rivers??? No way would I make that move. Aside from Peyton, Brady and Palmer there isn't another qb in the league that I'd trade for Campbell. That's not to say that Campbell is the 4th best qb in the league right now, but he's improving week to week faster than any other qb in the league right now by far. Why would you even think of trading Campbell for a Kitna when you already know what you're going to get out of Kitna and the sky is the limit for Jason. I wouldn't even make a deal for Romo. He's posted some great numbers with a great cast but some of his goose eggs would make me think twice. I just don't see the same raw talent in Romo that I do in Campbell.

Even a Cowboys fan said "Give Jason Campbell a big-time receiver and he'll put up the same kind of numbers as Romo."
Too be fair, there are several level-headed skins fan who clearly understands Campbell is nowhere near being an elite QB but this stuff is rich and too comical. :laugh1: :laugh1: :laugh1:

But he has played a game without TO, he carved up Seattle's first string in his pre-season start last year.

Plus last year his favorite target was Terry Glenn and not TO, low and behold who hasn't played just yet.

well Clinton Portis is allegedly better than JJ and Barber combined. Cooley is one of the better TEs in the league. Isn't Moss a very good WR?

Campbell tried playing like Romo and got intercepted by Newman. Its a joke that they'd even start comparing. Has Campbell beat a Superbowl caliber team? Romo led the team against the Colts, he led a huge comeback against the Panthers. He's 9-1 this season. And Campbell has done what? Beat who?

That's true.

I actually like Riggins.
Eventhough his career ypc was pretty low for a marquee back, I'd take him any day of the week over that little punk drama queen you got back there now.
BTW, what do you suppose old Riggo thinks of the cross-dressing freak who occupies his old position?

I was reading a thread there and saw a guy claim that Campbell "outplayed Romo" last weekend. :p:

That thread was astonishing. I apologize for ever thinking any of you guys were homers. I never knew what that term meant, apparently.

I don't know whether Campbell is going to be good, but what he said about Romo is 100% true. Every time Romo gets into trouble, he throws the ball to TO, and guess what, TO is so good that he catches the ball. This gunslinger mentality works well when you have a good receiver, but what if the receivers are mediocre? Not gonna work too well. More than likely those throws would be interceptions.
Also, consider this: McNabb's completion % without TO was never higher than 60%. With TO, his completion % went up to 64%. That's a whopper all right. He almost threw for 4000 yards and he played only 15 games in 2004. That was the year they went to the superbowl. Proof is right here:

TO makes any mediocre QB look good. McNabb was never good. He has been highly inaccurate without TO. So, judging from how TO helped McNabb, I think Romo gets a 5% accuracy bump because TO is his primary target.

On the flip side look at Jeff Garcia. This year is one of his best seasons to date. He has done fine without TO.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

These are the same fans who told over and over last year that Santanna Moss is better than TO. So wouldn't Romo be that much better if he had Moss?
