I know these guys were complete bums as head coaches in the NFL but im just wondering is it a good thing we have these guys on our staff? How do you guys feel about having them? And most importantly will we get more production out of our secondary because of them?

Both were very good coodinators and assistant coaches before they became HC. I like having the experiance we are seeing with the coaching staff.

I'd hardly say Capers was a bum. He took over two expansion franchises, for his two head coaching stops, and he got Carolina to the NFC title game in their second or 3rd year. That's hardly a bum.

All that said they're both very good assistants and I think having their knowledge around can only help.

Has Capers been hired?

No, not yet.

He's probably waiting to see if the Giants' DC position opens up for him.

I wouldn't mind seeing Campo and Capers on our staff, but it's beginning to look more like Capers may not be joining us though. If the Giants defensive coordinator leaves them to go elsewhere, I have a feeling that Capers will end up in New York to replace him, and not Dallas.

I am starting to think so as well.

I guess if Capers went to NYG he wouldn't have to step on Stewart's toes for one thing.

I think Campo and Capers are excellent assistant coaches. But just adding them won't make our secondary great. We need an infusion of talent back there.

Newman is fine. Henry is average. Hamlin is good but we may lose him. Roy sucks. Reeves sucks. Davis and Watkins are excellent special teamers, but Davis has proven to me he's not a starter and Watkins hasn't proven he can be. We need to draft a couple of guys and sign a decent free agent imo.

I think it would be a mistake if Dallas lets that happen. We need to make Capers DC and Stewart can take a demotion or hit the road.

I agree that's definitely what's happening here since we don't have a "perfect" spot for Capers, it makes sense he would explore all his options.

Capers is definitely a good thing IF he were to come on board. I hope he does come on board, but I have my doubts he will.

Look at GW witht Skins, he had a bad coaching career witht Bills but did well in Washington. I think it will be a great idea to have those two as assistant coaches.

I think Spagnolou (sp) will stay in NY like Mora did with Seattle. The Giants will do their best not to let him go even that means promising him the head-coaching job after TC. At least that is what I would do if I was working for the front office for the Giants.

You cannot deny the experience level of these fine coaches.....combined it should improve our defense.

I can feel you on this. I see your point. But I'm wondering something. While you're drafting these couple of guys and signing a FA...who are you letting go so that you have roster spots for them?

Roy isn't going anywhere, so that's out. So you're going to cut ties with Brown and Ball, who we just spent picks on last year, so that you can bring in three brand new guys?

I guess it's possible to have the room if Reeves and Davis and Hamlin are not resigned. But if we resign Hamlin and either Reeves or Davis (And due to the fact that I'm not sold on the idea that either of them will be in high demand elsewhere we might bring them both back) where are all these new guys going to fit in at?

I think we'll keep Hamlin and probably either Reeves or Davis. I don't know if Davis is possible, he's made it clear he wants a shot to start somewhere, but it would suck to lose such a valuable ST player on a team that is already not good on ST as it is.

Reeves I could see returning if we got 1 FA or 1 CB drafted, and moved to the 4th spot cause of his experience, but I just can't fathom the idea that we're going to bring in 3 brand new corners/safeties.

I would imagine they'd like to get a better look at Ball and Brown this year and see if either of those guys can play or not.

Looking more and more like once Spangulo takes the Skins job, Capers will reunite with Coughlin in NY as the DC.

This is exactly what Mort said last night. Capers would be a great addition as his 3-4 background would suggest. He was not a bum as a HC as he started 2 new franchises and if not for a nut job at QB at Carolina, Kerry Collins at the time, he probably would have done really well there.

The Giants run a 4-3 def... Capers coaches the 3-4...

I don't think that would happen IMO.

The Gnats will probably keep Spagnuolo.

Capers took the expansion Panthers to the NFCCG and built a foundation that would see them in the SB. Sure he was bad in Houston but with Carr and that oline who wouldnt be. Kubiak is doing well better becaseu he replaced those two very things.
