I noticed Jerry Jones referring to Dave Campo in his post draft press conference. I think Dave Campo is probably one of the nicest human beings alive and a die hard Cowboy through and through. He really had very little talent to work with when he was head coach, which was sort of unfair to him.

Having said that, I think he is a horrible, horrible DBs coach teaching his players to not turn their head for the ball which is exactly what you need a DB to do to avoid a pass interference call.

We had much better db play last year than we have shown in some time. I think part of it was the new DB coach. Hopefully whatever they were doing last year to coach them up they will continue to do. I just don't want to see too much reliance on Campo.

He was a much better Head Coach. He had Jerry turned around looking at something other than his win/loss record long enough to keep his HC gig for 4 yrs.

Not sure this would be high on my list of concerns going into TC.

Campo is a worker bee as a coach. One of the guys who takes their orders from the head coach or defensive coordinator. There are tons of coaches like him. The issue was he should have never been a pro defensive coordinator much less an NFL head coach.

Last year is the first year in many years we have seen our DBs play up to expectations. They played very well in stretches.

DB's were ok. But safeties last year.. The Greg Jackson Effect. He also coached Lewis and has gone to war with War Taco.

You guys realize, of course, that Campo has been gone for 15 years right? The man is going on 70 and still, he is somehow a threat? One constant in this organization. Look there.

DBs were okay, they were okay in 14 as well.

Easier to play in the secondary if the other team is pressing more because our offense continues to score points when they are on the field. I believe the scheme had a lot more to do with the he success than the players. This is a fairly DB friendly system...we don't try to stop the other player from catching the bald, we just don't let them get behind us and make the tackle.

The players we got are good players on most teams' boards. I doubt Campo had much influence. Jerry will probably answer his phone when Campo calls but he will listen to his scouts, coaches and McClay's opinion well before Campo.

We all know Jerry Jones has an inner circle of confidantes. He has mentioned Campo before. He has known him a long time and probably respects his opinion.

I still recall the disaster draft on 2009 when Campo raved about Mike Mickens and DeAngelo Smith.

If you listen to the coaches input, that can change who you take. Look at Ivie. It was clear he was a pet project of Marinelli and even Leon Lett. They knew him very well and really had a connection to him.

You have to hope there is no Campo cloud over these players. We never could draft any DBs to save our life when he was around. I don't know what exactly you heard, but I also heard Jones talking about how Greg Jackson knew the Big 10 players and had a hand in recruiting Charlton and Lewis.

Some coaches coach well, just don't scout well. Campo thought everyone was great if they looked like a "football playa". Sometimes they might have been, just not a very good one in terms of talent.

Greg Jackson definitely has more influence.

I've not heard many make this connection, but Jourdan Lewis probably got his biggest bode of confidence from Jackson, who was his DB coach for a year @Michigan.

For the first time in many years, I feel good about our secondary because of the support system they now have.

Jimmy Johnson must not have thought so since he hired him when he got the job with the Hurricanes then brought him to Dallas when Jerry hired Jimmy. So if Dave was that bad why would Johnson not only hire him in the college ranks but brought him to Dallas when he got his big chance at being HC of the Cowboys?

Dave Campo was at The Star during the draft proceedings. I saw him in the behind the scenes with Taco video (or one of the videos). He's also on Cowboys radio sometimes. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a consultant of some kind.

They let Henderson move on, promoted the assistant DB coach, to replace Henderson and hired Greg Jackson to be the new assistant DB coach. There was a noticeable difference.

Jerry couldn't even hire a HC while we were going through salary cap Hell. As an ultimate team player, Campo took the job knowing the consequences and Jerry did too. He was the perfect guy for the miserable job and he made the best of it and took all the media ****.

I hate it when people bash on Campo when he never even had a chance. Jerry is still loyal to him to this day.

I'll say this for Campo, he was instrumental in the drafting of Darren Woodson.
