Browns notebook
Former VP Garcia decides to move on
Defensive coordinator Campo talks with Dolphins
By Marla Ridenour

While former Browns coach Butch Davis insists he will take a year off, Pete Garcia plans to attend Senior Bowl practices in Mobile, Ala., later this month in search of another job.
Garcia, Davis' right-hand man and Cleveland's vice president for player personnel and football development, agreed to move Wednesday. He told the team's Web site the mutual parting will allow new general manager Phil Savage to bring in his own people. Davis resigned on Nov. 30.
Although all but one year of his football experience had been in the college ranks before he joined the Browns in 2001, Garcia hopes to remain in the NFL. He spent 1990-2000 at the University of Miami, six of those under Davis. He worked in the Miami Dolphins' personnel department for one year (1989-90).
A native of Havana, Cuba, Garcia wants his daughter, Kristie, to finish eighth grade before he and his wife, Edylin, leave Cleveland.
Another man with ties to Davis, defensive coordinator Dave Campo, has interviewed for the same position with the Miami Dolphins under new coach Nick Saban.
Some Browns coaches are still under contract, but apparently Campo didn't want to wait to learn his fate before starting his job search. Campo and Davis spent two years together in Cleveland and eight other seasons on the same defensive staff in Dallas and at the University of Miami.
