in an uncapped era in regards to payroll? I believe Dallas will figure out much like the NY Yankees have found that the more they spend...The more they make. Why? Merchandising. No teams have more fans nationwide then the Yankees in baseball or the Dallas Cowboys in football. The highest payroll does not always guarantee a championship, look at the yankees for the last 7 years they have not won it since 2003 but they are always at the top and competing for it.

The uncapped era that is coming will favor the Dallas Cowboys. The Bigger market teams Like NY, NE, Chicago will have big payrolls, vintage teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers will do well merchandising but the Dallas Cowboys are still the biggest draw and have the most fans. Im thinking this is why Jerry built the new stadium, this is why he did not rush in a new coach this year or hint at a change after two losses. Putting Wade on the hot seat publicly might turn-off one of the big (4) veteran coaches that are available at the end of the season. The next coach in an uncapped era is too important.

Jerry is not afraid to spend money to make money. The next superbowl we win, we may be hearing about payroll, payroll, payroll just like the yankees are right now. I won't be suprised to see Jerry launch the cowboys television network much like the yankees have, if he can legally pull it off. If we fans think Jerry Jones is not aware of Wades weaknesses maybe we should re-think our position. He knows, he's a smart guy, he's a salesmen and he's a multi billionaire. If he really wants to make money in an uncapped era (which I think he does), he will bring in a great coach and let his checkbook do the talking. He will have the ability to outspend the rest of the league and in return reap more profits and more championships then anyone else.

Are you a Mets fan? I think they have a top 5 five payroll.

I'm a Phillies fan and I'm not complaining. Fairly certain we're in the top 10.

It forces Jerry to buy Super Bowls vs hiring a GM and doing it fairly. But because I'm a Cowboys fan, I don't care if he has to buy Super Bowls, I just want them.

Nobody could compete with Paul Allen if he chose to really pour money into the Seahawks....Snyder is mega-rich as well.

Lil Danny boy has money to burn. Proves that every year.

You would sing a different tune if we won the Super Bowl a bunch of times.

Im not talking about money to burn, Im talking about being able to profit from it. The Dallas Cowboys can do that...Snyder can't.

idk, id rather not have to buy all the big names to win. id rather draft good talent and build in house.

I wouldn't.

During the Tex Schramm era, the Cowboys had some of the lowest payrolls in the league. Very good for Tex Schramm, but not so good for the players.

When contemplating whether he should holdout or not (which he eventually did), Lee Roy Jordan said that players from other teams use to laugh at how low the Cowboys players were paid.

I would hate to start the Season knowing only a hand full of teams had a decent shot at winning the Super Bowl.

That's just me though

Paul Allen makes Snyder and Jerry COMBINED look like a bunch of minimum wagers.

As far as the Yankees go, people don't recognize that Steinbrenner is nowhere near the richest owner in MLB. He is just willing to spend more, take a loss in revenue if he absolutely has to and aggressively market his team. I'm not sure how that is the Yankees fault or how that is a bad thing that one owner is willing to do more for his team than the other owner's who have far more money.

Anyway, it appears that the only uncapped year will be 2010. I don't think there will be a lot of FA's available and the one thing I'm curious about is if owner's go crazy to get a big name FA, how will that effect them when the cap comes back in 2011? I get the feeling that the uncapped year will not be that big of a deal in the end.

My problem isn't with the Yankees. It's with MLB and the lack of a salary cap. If someone has the money, I won't blame them for using it to their advantage.

The 30% rule will stifle teams from loading up.

You can't buy a team in football, this isn't baseball.

Chemistry is important unlike in the dugout or outfield where its a series of individuals.

Only person to ever buy a team was the 1994 49ers and it was one and done after that.

Ask the Commanders if you can buy a team.

Same here.

Building a team is the way to go.

Football is dependent on team play for success and that often becomes harder with every "big name" a team adds.

If a player considers himself more important than the team, your ship is likely sunk.

Whatever our final record may be this year, the team is better because a lot of individualists were shown the door last off-season.

I doubt Jerry Jones will be able to stop himself from going after some flavor of the month in free agency in March, even with plenty of business to do with our own guys.

But big ticket additions rarely do what owners, coaches and fans hope they will.

If there is no cap, playoff teams will be restricted in free agency. I think its where they can only sign someone when they lose one. Players that get cut in salary dumps on the other hand will be available without the restrictions.

You guys are forgetting that Jerry is broke. :)
And that the next Dallas HC is the highly paid, red headed guy calling the plays right now.

I bet you could do it for short term success. The raiders almost pulled it off with a FA veteran team in 2002 but they lost to the bucs in the super bowl. They had rich gannon, jerry rice, tim brown, lincoln kennedy, bill romanowski, sam adams, among others. I dont think you can sustain success that way, but you can make a run at it for sure.
