can anyone name the starting WR's "without looking them up" for the SD Chargers? i feel like our defense can hold LT in check, just wondering what their passing game will be like especially without Gates.

Caldwell is their #2 but isnt he dinged up? Or was that just a preseason precaution?
Either way, I like the matchup of our DBs vs. their WRs.
(when was the last time a cowboy fan could say that???!!!) :D

Hey CBZ, you forgot Antonio Gates. May not be an official WR, but he's their leading receiver.

And McCardell is nothing to sneeze at. He's a very good WR. All the intangibles, but without the speed. Hands like Glenn, but tough like Keyshawn, IMO.

Looking at the size of their WR corp, they've got some big WRs. All are 6'+ with Osgood and Jackson the rookie the tallest at 6'5"

According to their depth chart, the top 3 are McCardell, Osgood, and Jackson. But I think that's because Caldwell is coming off an injury from last season. Before the injury, I think he was their #2.

They may not have a big name WR corp, but I think they can produce and will be a challenge to our secondary.

Yeah - but Gates is of no concern to us. Because he isn't playing against us. :cool:

I dunno about that Woodrow, I think they are an average group.

Gates, albeit, is NOT average but by the same token, he's not playing in week 1.

This particular group may not have the big name, but they don't have the big talent IMO/FWIW.

Gates will not be a factor in this game as he is being sat for his holdout.

McCardell is a excellent WR you better not overlook. He did a wonderful job in Jacksonville and did a better job in Tampa being the #1. Then he wanted to get paid and was traded to San Diego where he struggled last year because of injuries and not knowing the offense.

You guys are right about Gates not being a factor for game 1, however I was focusing on the overall WR corp. Not whether they would be playing on 9/11.

As it relates to us on game day, yeah, Gates won't be a factor. But I don't think anyone should just write off the rest, because they do have a solid WR corp. THAT was kinda my point.

All that really matters is the collective points they put up last year, and check out the scores of some of their games. Amazing what a good runner and good tight end can do for ya...so NO excuses for us this year. ;)
