Can anyone remember a thinner margin?

I’m trying to get a solid read on the current team and really struggling.

I am focused on the many positive things they have going right now and I think the future looks bright.

But while doing so, I keep coming back to the razor-thin margin that’s been the 2025 Cowboys.

They are THIS CLOSE to being a 4-1 team. Things go right at Philadelphia or vs Green Bay and they’re talking about an NFC contender.

Conversely, if Aubrey doesn’t save the day and the offense isn’t incredible vs the Packers, this team is 1-4 already and effectively out of it.

Instead, we’re right down the middle of both.

I can’t remember a season where things were THIS CLOSE.

I can't remember, what season were they called the "Cardiac Cowboys?" LOL. Could see a repeat.

This is the NFL in general, every year. A lot of these games come down to the last 6-8min and the difference is a few plays here and there.

Dallas could have easily won the GB game and probably should have but at the same time, probably should have lost the NYG game.

A lot of Philly's games are coming down to the end, too.

That is what makes the NFL great. The margin between tiers of teams isn't that much and these games are close for the most part.

But every season, the teams do separate themselves from each other as it goes on. Give it the end of this month, we will know much more about this team.

I didn't watch the game. How did we manage to give up sixteen points in the fourth quarter?

Yeah I think you are right. I mean look at the Jets they lost to the Steelers and Buccs by a combined 4 points.

That's the NFL for ya. Most games come down to one score, and flukes can turn a record either way. Look at the Vikings and Chiefs last season.

I wonder what things would be like if we had a better defensive coordinator and or, if we were actually healthier.
I truly believe we would be winning a lot more if our defense was at least "middle of the road". Hard to win games when they are ranked #32!!
Health has much more to do with it than coaching at this point.
The defense still learning the schemes. It will take 3 or 4 more games, and getting players back before we see how well, or poor, they do.

There have been a few teams that have been successful over the years getting by by the skin of their teeth. Of course, usually those teams jell at some point to where they show some superiority. I think with this defense, we're probably going to continue to play some close games that could go either way. Limiting the Jets' offense and Justin Fields doesn't mean much (other than our defense played at least as good as most of the other ones the Jets have faced). We'll see if the defense can actually build off that.

You can tell about the character of a team by Thanksgiving.

The Cowboys have always had this kind of mystery around them. Just a few different play outcomes here and there and they could have won 10 SBs.

Just a few plays different and they are the team of the 1970's.

Garret takes us to three straight 8-8 seasons, then 12-4, then 4-12 to get back to that right down the middle thing you mention.

Game was over. Cowboys went conservsative on both sides of the ball.
Yes, and with about 12 minutes left in the game. It seemed they backed off. Did not really go prevent. But they left the middle of the field open. As to create longer drives to make them run down the clock. Now not really anything wrong with that but do it at 6 to 8 minutes at the most. Not 12 minutes.

1. A decent but not good team
2. Good regular season offense
3. Horrific defense because of idiot DC and some garbage players like Diggs

Most of all: i have seen this movie many times before and im not falling for it. im not expecting anything good unless they get to the NFCCG because Dak is very good in regular season but always craps the bed when the big games roll around

I think if we go and look at most teams in the NFL, change a play or two in each of their games and we reach the same conclusion. The league has been striving for parity for a long time and it's here. Week five and there are no undefeated teams and only one winless team (thank goodness Dallas kept the Jets that one team).
