Can anyone remember the #1 seed in the NFC going to an 11-5 team

I went over the remaining schedule of the contending teams: NYG,DAL,WAS,PHI,CHI,ATL,TB,CAR AND SEA.

At this time I really don't see a 12-4 team in the group. Based on the scedule, I think Sea has the best chance to get to 12 wins and are probably a solid 11 win team.

If we do win the East at 11-5 I'd hate losing out to Seattle for the #1 seed over that killer loss to them. Here's hoping for a three way tie in which we could take the #1 seed.

Where do you guys see these teams finishing?

i think you are right. Im afraid it will be seattle finishing at 12-4 or 11-5. If we can beat the giants and take the division how awful would that be to finish 11-5 with seattle and lose home field advantage cause we gave that game away.

Even if we lost home field advantage to Seattle, I really think we could beat them at their place in the playoffs. I'd rather play a road game in Seattle than in Philly or a dome stadium such as Atlanta.

I agree. I don't fear playing Seattle in Seattle. I wouldn't want the Cowboys to have to play Carolina on the road. Atlanta I wouldn't be too concerned about because I believe there are as many Cowboys fans in Atlanta as Falcons fans. Besides, their fast field will also be conducive to the Cowboys speed (Ware, James and Newman in particular).

But I can't worry too much about home field advantage right now. It's encouraging, though, that Bill is building this team to be a winter, smash-mouth football team. We'll see how well we do on the road down the stretch.

On the upside I would love nothing more than to get another shot at Seattle be it in Seattle or Dallas.

I seriously hope the eagles lose 2 of their next three games, with one of those losses coming to us. Unless they fall apart, I can see them running the table on thier last 6 games..

I just looked and only once since the schedule went to 16 games did the team with the best record in the NFC not have at least 12 wins.....

1979, when Dallas and Philly had 11-5 records. I assume Dallas had home field, because they were listed above Philly in the standings, but Dallas and Philly both lost in the opening round of the playoffs anyway...

Seattle has SIX easy games on their sched, SFx2, AZ, Tenn, GB, and Stl. That's 11 wins right there. Throw in a 1-2 record vs. NYG, Philly, and Indy and you have 12-4.

you are correct, and since the league went to awarding homefield adv to the team with the best record (I think 74 or 75) thats the only time we've had home field adv and not won the super bowl...we had it in 1977, 1993 and 1995 and won the super bowl all 3 of those yrs

that loss to Seattle could be huge, and i think they will be the #1 seed due to an easy schedule. having said that, i am also pretty sure we can still get a bye and facing the Seahawks again doesn't put any fear in me. we are the better team, and will continue to progress as our young players develop.

Wow David I did not know that little fact...cool.

That loss to the rams is one of my earliest memories of cowboy games. I know I watched games before that, but that one stuck in my head.

I believe it was Roger Staubach's last game as a cowboy before he retired. Maybe that's why I remember it, even though I was only 7...
