in Cowboy history to TO's release?

I'm against the move for many reasons I've previously stated.

But I'm not a TO fan, I'm a Cowboy fan and I'll pull for whoever wears the star.

Not sure how to feel about the move since I can't think of a comparable.

Only thing i can think off is when Irvin got hurt and people thought Galloway could fill that hole

not really a offseason move but the situations could very well end in the same fashion

bad -> worse -> Campo

I would think Aikman before Emmitt...

And I don't know that I would compare them since these guys are Cowboy legends.

T.O. spawns a whole lot of hate to be put on that level.

Duane Thomas. Hell we went to the SB with Thomas but he was getting difficult for Landry to deal with so we ended up letting him go. It was not about talent or money it was about Thomas

Most likely Hollywood Henderson!
This is my vote. Cowboys were a top notch team and he was a big part of it.

Trading Duane Thomas might come close.

Trying to be optomistic today Hos. But I just can't see how this makes us better.

Feel like Jones just gave up, he quite. Media and fan pressure was too much and he's taking the easy way out.

It's like we punted on 4th and inches from the 35 yardline.:banghead:

Nobody has mentioned trading Herschel Walker for some "magic beans."

Or cutting our starting quarterback in the middle of training camp a few years ago, although I can't remember what his name was.

I think we were looking at problem or malcontent players. Walker would not fit that bill. The player you can't remember his name was not a top quality player like a Thomas, Henderson or Owens.

Sorry, I must have missed where it was said that the player had to be a "malcontent" or a "top quality player."

Can you point me in the direction of that particular post?

Pretty much thought the post indicated that. Which was why guys like Hollywood Henderson was being tossed out there. Did not mean to ruffle any feathers on this. The Walker trade given the fact we were getting vet players and top draft picks was not overly controversal and the player we will not name by name was having some issues which ended up getting him out of the league all together.

i really dont get why people think this way......since when has Jerry folded to media or fans?.....it was after talking with coaches and players and the things he saw for himself that he made this decision

The first three guys mentioned were Emmitt, Irvin and Aikman, not malcontents.

Not controversial? Jerry and Jimmy were lambasted for trading away our best player and getting nothing back except some scrubs and a few draft picks (hence Randy Galloway's "magic beans" comment). At the time, people didn't realize how the trade was structured and how it would end up giving us quite a haul of draft picks, so yes, it was quite controversial.

The reason I mentioned it was because in both cases -- trading Walker and cutting Owens -- we got rid of arguably our best offensive weapon. I can't recall another case in team history when that happened.

But nobody knew that at the time. He was our starting quarterback, and one day in training camp, we simply cut him without warning. At least with Owens, we knew it might be coming.

I don't buy the Hollywood comparison. The guy was spiraling out of control due to drugs and was released during the season. TO's "drug" is narcissism; nor was he humiliated a la Hollywood.

10-6 and the first playoff win in many years. But it probably ends there.

I suspect there will be a major injury somewhere along the line also.
