Can Brian Schottenheimer be more than Jason Garrett 2.0

The traits that make a great HC are not easily judged from afar, so it’s hard to say how Schotty will do.

That said, the selection process and the selectors (our FO) don’t give me confidence though.

To be clear, he wouldn’t be HC if Mike was still here, and that’s damning in its own right.

But I don’t see Garrett 2.0.

Jason Garrett's coaching resume, including his brief stint as offensive coordinator, was a joke even when the interim head coaching position was handed to him. I have no clue how Brian Schottenheimer's experience will ultimately serve him as a head coach but there is no comparison between his resume and Garrett's on Day One. I will not insult Schottenheimer with a nickname of Garrett 2.0 for that reason alone.

I think where Garrett excelled was Monday - Saturday but he was a terrible game day coach and was waaaaaay to easy to gameplan against.

He thought it is the 90s and with the right players we could just impose our will on everyone and scheming did not matter.

He forgot that there is a salary cap and most of these teams are the exact same and what separates teams in this era is Coaching and QB play.

The only other big edge is the rookie QB contract.

He basically sucked at every position he was in his coaching career.
He went to 2 AFC Championship Games as OC with Mark Sanchez at QB. And hard to say he sucked in Seattle. He seemed to get the most out of his talent and they had regular season for most of his run.

Let the man implement his own ideas and do his thing.
JG was an 8-8 man, we had what a few 13-3 or whatever seasons.
Compared to last season even 8-8 is progress by an inch. (yeah yeash 17 games).

Lets see what the man and the team can do.
ill throw my toys and be moaning about it all. IF it goes south fast.
But I hope we can go somewhere this season.
Lets see.:star:

I just dont see it with him. He basically sucked at every position he was in his coaching career. He led one of the worst Offenses in football last season. Seems like a typical Jerry "Yes-Man" type of hire. I get serious Jason Garrett 2.0. vibes with him.

If the Cowboys would have been serious about changing culture and winning they would have not made the lazy pick again. Ben Johnson would have been my favourite this offseason.
So you are an expert at judging assistant coaches for failure or success?

What makes things worse is Ben Johnson wasn't even interviewed. Neither was Aaron Glenn or Mike Vrabel. It was a joke hiring process.

I THINK I'M JUST TIRED OF HEARING about CULTURE!!! Just play football, what are we going to have a bunch of nice guys that love football but have no heart?? All this getting to know the players and stuff like that is fine and nice, but let's bring some toughness, let's actually be ready for the playoffs!!!
