Can Brian Schottenheimer be more than Jason Garrett 2.0

Schotty’s success will depend on the players. Any decent coach can win when they have a talented team.

I THINK I'M JUST TIRED OF HEARING about CULTURE!!! Just play football, what are we going to have a bunch of nice guys that love football but have no heart?? All this getting to know the players and stuff like that is fine and nice, but let's bring some toughness, let's actually be ready for the playoffs!!!
I think you're misinterpreting what many are talking about when they mention culture. I think they're talking about guys that have the passion to win and have fight and toughness in them, not "nice guys" though teammates who aren't going to cause locker room drama and poison the water hole is important too.

...Garrett was no coach. He was more of speaking innovator as HC. He was good with wording things and making situations sound positive.

SHotty strikes me, more as players coach. He seems more about details and getting things right order to work.

Tony Gwynn one baseball greatest hitters. Always practiced basic hitting off a Tee. Shotty reminds me of that statement.

I’m not giving him any slack and to no fault of his but Jerry. There was far more qualified coaches out there with proven success and we go in house. Unbelievable.

I’d expect a jason Garrett level coach as his ceiling, would love to be wrong though
+1

The last thing we need is another Fattie (FF) or Clapper. I'll just be happy if he is something else quite honestly.

Would love to see him suceed, but the chances are slim.

He seems to be a classic nepo hire. Lifted into the NFL because of his connections, without any real credentials. Pete Carroll ran the O in Seattle, MM ran it in Dallas. Schotty was incidental to any success or failure.

And he's not off to a great start. We"ve seen nothing this offseason to suggest that there's a new HC in town wanting to put his stamp on the team. No change in approach. A safe meh draft. No evidence of any new plan being followed.

I dont think that he should be given any lattitude. He was hired ahead of many excellent and experienced coaches who were available this offseason. He needs to show the reason why.

I think he's a cheap placeholder at HC. Jones were caught short when MM declined to stay and messed up the recruitment. Schotty is a symthom of a team that is aimlessly drifting, not knowing what to do.

Fans cheered when Jason’s contract expired and Big Mike was hired.

All we had to do was look at what happened in Green Bay.

It happened here next.

Should have kept Jason as HC.
There’s absolutely nothing to support what you’re claiming.

I just dont see it with him. He basically sucked at every position he was in his coaching career. He led one of the worst Offenses in football last season. Seems like a typical Jerry "Yes-Man" type of hire. I get serious Jason Garrett 2.0. vibes with him.

If the Cowboys would have been serious about changing culture and winning they would have not made the lazy pick again. Ben Johnson would have been my favourite this offseason.
It's a process..lol

I posted this since many say he is so bad never had a top 10 offense, which here you can clearly see he did.

McCarthy took a team with 15 players on IR to the SB and won while in GB. Garrett never even won a divisional game.
He was way younger then and Aaron was in his prime, and the team was loaded with talent,
and had a good defense, which fell apart after the SB win.
Watch that game on youtube, and look at Aaron, his balls were super fast darts.
