Can Brian Schottenheimer be more than Jason Garrett 2.0

I just dont see it with him. He basically sucked at every position he was in his coaching career. He led one of the worst Offenses in football last season. Seems like a typical Jerry "Yes-Man" type of hire. I get serious Jason Garrett 2.0. vibes with him.

If the Cowboys would have been serious about changing culture and winning they would have not made the lazy pick again. Ben Johnson would have been my favourite this offseason.
They had no defense last year and no QB for over half the year. Did you forget that?

Not me.

Big Mike still has a successful resume and a Super Bowl ring.

Jason Garrett was gifted his jobs by Jerry Jones.

Couldn’t even cut it as an offensive coordinator afterwards.

And now he can’t even get a job in coaching.

He can stick to being creepy on television.
Former Cowboys HCs haven’t fared that well this century. It will be interesting to see if Big Mac ever gets another HC job. Of all the former DC HCs in the last 26 years, only the snoozer Chan Gailey ever got another NFL HC job and it was a brief stint in Buffalo.

Campo and Garrett never got another HC job in NFL or college. Parcells retired for good. Wade was a successful DC in Denver, winning a SB ring there, then was a HC in the XFL/USFL.Now McCarthy? We will see.

I suspect that Brian was the only one willing to concede half of his authority as the Head Coach to a father/son duo of clowns posing as NFL experts.

Whether he will be different from Garrett is irrelevant. As far as the Jones's are concerned, he's just a hired hand.

Just train Jerry's team. Jerry and Stephen will do all the thinking.

What makes things worse is Ben Johnson wasn't even interviewed. Neither was Aaron Glenn or Mike Vrabel. It was a joke hiring process.
Mike Vrabel was hired jan 12 by NE, where he wanted to go.
MM was fired Jan 13 lol, so this was impossible.
Ben Johnson -Ben Johnson salary is a ballpark of $14.5M !! So no way would jerry
Have tried to outbid chicago, or pay that much.

Jerry has never paid more than 6 mil a year, and from what I read MM was thought to be
getting 4 mil a year.
Shotty is getting 4 to 6 mil a year probably and has a 4 year deal which is usually all guaranteed.

Aaron Glenn reportedly has a "substantial offer" to become the New York Jets' head coach on 5 year deal........... So your probably talking about 10-15 mil a year.

So Hadenough, maybe you should do a little research before you start talking, so you dont look
so _____.

Bottom line is other OC's, Dc's and HC's know now how cheap the jones boys are, and that they
dont value HC's much and dont go all out to win (FA >?) So why would the good or successful
ones want to come here ??
Basically if they come here jones boys make it hard to succeed, and they dont pay much.
They would have to be stupid to come here now days.

I for one am glad we got shotty, I think he will do better than previous coaches, and if not I will eat the crow!

Would love to see him suceed, but the chances are slim.

He seems to be a classic nepo hire. Lifted into the NFL because of his connections, without any real credentials. Pete Carroll ran the O in Seattle, MM ran it in Dallas. Schotty was incidental to any success or failure.

And he's not off to a great start. We"ve seen nothing this offseason to suggest that there's a new HC in town wanting to put his stamp on the team. No change in approach. A safe meh draft. No evidence of any new plan being followed.

I dont think that he should be given any lattitude. He was hired ahead of many excellent and experienced coaches who were available this offseason. He needs to show the reason why.

I think he's a cheap placeholder at HC. Jones were caught short when MM declined to stay and messed up the recruitment. Schotty is a symthom of a team that is aimlessly drifting, not knowing what to do.
read my post #86, none of those other guys would have come here lol.

I am cautiously optimistic. He seems to have a plan and all the coaches are organization are buyinging into it. Let's see if the players do. He seems to be a much better leader. I'll give him three years. This year is a wash. Since they are rebuilding the core.

Says a lot about the people hiring those coaches, doesn’t it?

It’s only you that seems to ‘forget’. Willfully.

McCarthy has playoff wins that Garrett will NEVER have.

And a Super Bowl ring that Garrett will NEVER have.

Even in Dallas, McCarthy outperformed Garrett.

Show us where The Clapper ever had 3-straight 12-win seasons?

What he did consistently was 8-8.

Take the ‘L’.

Jerry should never have ignored what happened in Green Bay.

Because history repeats..and it happened in Dallas.

Big Mike might talk a GM into an OC gig.

But he’s been a disaster without ARodgers.

It’s the way Big Mikes time ended in GB and Dallas.

That article was well researched.

We basically wasted 5 seasons.
