Can Dak break into Elite QB Tier?

What are you guys expecting out of Dak this year? I’m not talking about the number of TDs and yards, I’m talking just about his level of play?

I’m expecting Dak to make a huge jump in terms of his decision making skills (timing) and internal clock. I expect him to start carrying the team on a regular basis. I’m expecting him to run the ball several times per game and start hurting defenses and keeping them honest.

I think you are going to see the best version of Dak by far. If Zeke is out I can also see Dak getting killed by a missed blitz pickup by a RB.
That's why I think Jackson will make the team. He is good at blitz pickup, he isn't Zeke but he can block and is the best behind Zeke as far as RBs are concern.

Where's @PAPPYDOG ? It's a miracle he hasn't commented and given his endorsement of Dak. lol

I sincerely hope Dak has a Mahomes type season as the Glory of the Star first and foremost.
My common sense tells me a leopard doesn't change his spots therefore I am ready for the same anemic check-down panic in pocket while being off-target passing Dak attack.
If the unexpected happens and Zeke is not starting week 1 for numerous games expect Dak to be booed out of the Stadium.....
Either way GL to our Boys!

Id love to have a top 10 QB. But Dak's ceiling is top 12. He's an average QB. We are about to see if linehan was holding the offense back or if he called these easy comeback routes out of necessity.

No ...he is who we thought he is, a mid-round level talent who has produced above average results.

First of all what is an elite quarterback in today's game. This is more of a team sport than ever. I don't care about that so-called status. Can he be a top 10 quarterback absolutely

THAT depends on who your asking lol.

Elite QB's are in elite offensive systems with elite offensive coaches. Now if that ever happens here in Dallas, I still dont think Dak will ever be an elite passing QB. He has plenty of elite traits, but I dont see him every being a guy that is going to pass for 5000 yards and 40 TD's. Then again, he doesnt need to be.

Can we at least get through this season before we label him winner or loser. No longer is he a quarterback in training. You should have been on the bench the last 3 Seasons. Is only issue is reading a defense. Yes I believe so. And that comes with experience. He has all the other tools my cowboy brother

He will progress and get better. All this dude does is win.
Yep.
Through his first 48 games starting, the team has won 35 games.
For perspective, the team won 36 games in Romo's first 48 starts....and he was older.

With this loaded roster, just keep improving and it should work out well.

Some have an obsession with labeling players. The only requirement is a combination of good coaching, efficient roster, and a quarterback capable of getting the job done. It is not necessary for coaching to be the best in the league. 22 starters must not be all superstars. The quarterback is not minimized if he is not universally considered as one of the best of all time. The team left standing in the end simply needs all three working in concert to achieve the ultimate goal.

The last 53 years have showcased some of the best football teams of all-time. The same time period has highlighted more than a few ending up being the best team of just that particular season.

There is a single word that sums up all Lombardi trophy winning success: team. That same success has never been accomplished simply with one player slapped with a five-letter description. Just ask Marino. Or Tarkenton. Heck, ask Elway before he was surrounded with a true all-around team.

There is a formula for championship football. Essential ingredients do not necessarily include one player having a popular opinion generated elite label.

Dak just needs to get this team to 25 points per game with this defense...not gonna expect anything too different than what we are accustomed to from #4.

Dak will likely never be an "elite" QB, but the importance of that is overplayed because the truth is there are only a few truly "elite" ones at any time. Accordingly, a team can't count on an elite QB to carry them because that would leave 28-29 teams on the outside looking in. Obviously it would be nice to have an "elite" QB, but a good QB who plays well within his system and makes good decisions is incredibly valuable as well. That's what all but a few teams have to rely on. There just aren't that many Tom Brady and Drew Brees level players floating around.

For the money they will most likely be paying him we had all better hope so!

For the life of me, I don't get the wins and losses thing.

That game was one of the best games I have ever seen a Cowboys QB play . . . and Romo lost anyways. Was it his fault the defense gave up 51 points?

Why do people evaluate QB's based heavily on wins and losses? Its a team game. No one is sitting here saying Jeff Heath is an awesome safety because his team just wins. By all the stats, Dak is an average QB. He isn't horrible and with the team around him, they can definitely win a lot. But man, giving him disproportionate credit for wins is just unfair to the rest of the team.

Last year, Dallas was 23rd in passing yards, 23rd in passing TD's, 22nd in points scored, etc. The "just winning" wasn't Dak.

I thought the 15th ranked passing QB was already considered Elite asking for a top 5 salary?

I don't get it either.
Thats why I always say the TEAM won with the QB playing, NOT the QB won.
QB won loss records are silly
I completely agree

I pointed out the TEAM won loss record with Romo because I find it odd that Dak is called “a winner” by many of same people that didnt say that about Romo.
Yet the team won at a very high rate with both.
