So, listening to JG talk about the team he references quite a bit about how it does not matter where the guy was drafted or how long he has been here, he is going to put the right type of guys on the roster.

If so, is there a guy that would create a bit of "caution" to other players by cutting him. One that really makes a statement that you have not performed and we dont feel that you will perform to the standards that we need. Also, is he willing to make that choice and will JJ allow him.

Yeah, I think they already did it but Garrett may have another chance with Choice.

Given how todays teams have to contend with a cap it is not as easy to just cut a guy mid season like Jimmy did with Curvin Richards. I do think the power of benching a player is more likely to happen if you are looking to make a statement mid season.

I hesitate to say it, because it'll be misinterpreted, but I don't think these were really "statement cuts." Yes, they were big names, but each of those guys knew the writing was on the wall. Each had been speculated on for some time.

Don't get me wrong - it was refreshing, it was a good sign, it was good and promising!

Still, a statement cut seems like it would be someone like Gurode, if his weight ballooned more by the time he ends up reporting. Or Choice.

Not saying I think those two deserve it, or that we even "need" statements right now. I think the ones people are mentioning here were good, needed dead weight cuts.

Someone like Curvin would still work today. He was a 4th round pick making the minimum. Like cutting 3rd round pick Robert Brewster, oh yeah he did that too.

Agreed. Big names with big money attached and a couple of them underachieved.

Choice is on the chopping block. obvoiusly they will try to get something for him. but in the end no one is willing to pay and he will get cut. that's fine. worry about the guys we have here and if miller is better than him, then so be it. the team is better.

True but then again it was not much of a statement. I don't think any player is going to be overly shocked if Brewster were to be cut. I think where you get the attention of players is putting a starter on the bench when he is not producing

I seriously doubt it. he is one of the best blocking TEs and he isn't going anywhere.

but the fans expect 50-60 catches and 5-6 TDs a season and because he is not meeting those expectations, they want him gone.

I think the Barber cut had some "statement" to it. Yes, his salary needed to be dumped, but when he bucked Garrett on the dress code issue, he was definitely gone...

I count 4. Marion Barber, Roy Williams, Leonard Davis, and Marc Colombo
I thought about saying 4 :laugh2:

I don't think Colombo was really a statement cut, the guy just doesn't have anything left in the tank...the other 3 were just different IMO.

I agreee if he does make one, it will be Choice. He dosent play special teams and dosent pass block.
