Can Josh Brent help the defense?

The value I seem in him is that he is fresh. He hasn't played in a few years, so that's a negative but he doesn't have the wear and tear of a player who has played in 12 games. He'll need to get back into the groove of things which may take a while but as a rotation he may be better than a couple of back-ups right now.

He I think w/Melton can cause hell.
 
Really surprised they haven't activated him game day and given him a few snaps. Makes me think he must not be close to ready yet
 
I read earlier that they have him working as a 1tech, McClain 3tech and Melton at DE in today's practice. They may be trying to

In this line-up, it looks like either George Selvie or Anthony Spencer won't get a jersey Thursday night.
 
They've brought Melton from LDE a few times this season, wonder if he hasn't collected 1 sack from that position

they need a 1 tech that demands a double team, right now Hayden can be handled with the guard after a check by the center, who then drops off to help, or on a run play gets into RoMac.

I think Selvie might have minor injury he's nursing. If so he's the odd ball out. I would like to see Brent and McClain on first downs or 3rd n short plays.

If he can produce from there with Crawford on the 3T spot we could have a solid tandem. Hopefully Lawrence or Mincey can create some heat on the opposite side.
 
All i know is we need someone 2 push up the middle and force the QB out, idk if Brent can do that but we need Crawford on the outside. So lets hope Brent can wreck some kinda Havoc
 
Brent has never been anything more than a JAG. He was never a dominant player.
Expecting anything more after not playing for nearly 2 years is unrealistic.
 
Unless he can play Corner, Safety, LB, or DE.........nope.

Of these nine players, I'm hoping Anthony Spencer, George Selvie, Henry Melton, Nick Hayden and Terrell McClain all get churned during the off-season.
 
Brent can definitely help the run stopping, we need to stop Forte , of course we need to handle , Marshall, Jeffery and Bennett ( cough) too. But if forte is getting 5 yards a piece , the def can't get out at all.

They should also try to get both Mincey and DLaw at DE at the same time. I would like to see DLaw, Melton, Crawford,Mincey as the DL on passing downs.
