And no, marijuana isn't a better pain killer than opiates.
Not necessarily true.
Yes, opioides can kill the pain more quickly and more powerfully that cannabis. However, opioides are extremely addictive and there are very bad side effects to opioides, whether you are abusing them or not.
Researchers have also seen another negative impact of abuse of opioides....where they were used to kill pain, abuse of them now makes the person ultra sensitive to anything. And it's a vicious cycle of addiction, abuse and then now feeling pain from something completely innocuous...which just leads to more opiate abuse.
I really don't know of any credible, reasonable cannabis advocate that believes that marijuana can cure all diseases for everybody. But, what we have seen is cannabis being a remedy for people with violent, day ruining seizures. A remedy for people with cystic fibrosis. An alternative to chemotherapy which allows the person to go thru less radiation treatment and make their cancer go into remission more quickly. Along with it helping many people with treating pain and arthritis.
And that's with very little funding for scientific research to be done and to be able to have a more exacting dosage and type of marijuana (oil, inhaling, ingesting) to help provide more accurate remedies for what ails people.
