I think he can go over 1000 yards but he is clearly the 3rd option right now (Dez and Witten). Escobar might cause him to fall to Romo' 4th option.

Doubtful.

Escobar likely won't be on the field enough to gain the trust it would require for Austin to become 4th option.

Aside from Witten, and perhaps Robinson in his short time, Austin has the most well developed relationship with Austin.

There is a good possibility Escobar sees more snaps than Austin.

If that happens it would almost assuredly be because of injury.

Bennett only saw about 50% of the snaps during his entire time in Dallas and it's actually under that amount. I'm not sure why people assume swapping out a TE will all of a sudden make things works. Clearly Bennett didn't lake the ability to help out in the passing game so it's not like we're going from some dud to a stud. Dallas just asked him to block almost all the damn time and he even said so himself a couple years into his time here.

If Escobar can't block well enough, I don't think he be out there that much.

Even if Austin misses 2-3 games I think he'll likely have more snaps than Escobar. If Escobar were to get Bennett's workload, Miles could miss a number of games because Austin had more snaps than Bennett in any season they were out there together, aside from 2008.

Fix that.......Austin with Austin......probably not what I meant.

Can Miles Austin return to stardom in 2013?

Answer: Yes, but only if he remains healthy . . . what are the chances of that?

Austin can be a big time player for us next season. I went back and watched the Steeler game, which IMO was the best game of last season for us, Miles completely took over a drive. You could tell that they were trying to take Wit and Dez away, and Miles was just torching them.

A bold prediction: It will be a rerun of the 2012 season for Miles Austin.

He might be up to the challenge, but with Dez set to take off, the rookie getting his chances (Jerra will want him to get plenty of looks to prove his draft day acumens), plus perhaps the last year that Witten will be at top form and the new guy, Escobar -- well, that doesn't leave many balls for Austin.

And maybe that should be the way it should. But with fewer footballs thown his way lies opportunity. Yes, I said opportunity, oppoRtunity with a capital R.
We are behind by 3 points. We be on the 35 yard line. 45 seconds left on the clock, Romo fades, looks right, looks left and ever one is covering Witten and Dez (yes, Jerra likes the 2 deep 2 flats receiving formation) and Romo flips it to Austin. The crowd roars. Ol' Gimme is jumping on the couch and is ruining the plastic cover on it) and Austin bursts into the end zone.

Austin can be our fifth column, our ace in the hole, our secret weapon.

I think our receiving corp, if not by superstars then by numbers, will be in the top 5 in the NFL. And Austin will have his part to play and he'll do it very well.

OK, I am through. Don't thank me for educating you mens further, it is my duty.

Health is the issue with Miles he is still a very dangerous WR who can make big plays on offense. Clearly Dez is the #1 WR but I will gladly take Miles on a one on one match up any day of the week.

If things go as planned I see less balls for everyone, if we get a running game I do not see us putting up a lot of passing yards. Now if we have a repeat of last year where we are pretty bad running the ball I could see three 1000 yard receivers if not four

Witten may have slowed a bit, but he still produces at a very high level. And he can and has played injured. He is a professional who will continue to produce.

Austin has also slowed a bit, but he is very injury prone. Can't stay on the field and his production and value for the team has declined. Dallas will be lucky if Austin is healthy enough to play in 8 games over the course of the year.

Dallas should not have restructured Austins deal (money mismanagement)...they should have looked to trade him and get a young healthy player.
