I keep hearing that 2025 cap situation comes to a head next year.

Right now you have a lot of space, but too hard to quantify it until we see what happens with Bland, Prescott, Lamb, Parsons, Tyler Smith, and Ferguson. All could have market setting extensions by spring 2025

(Plus any other free agents you pick up this year by kicking the can)

About $90m (based on $260m total).
But that's not including.
QB
WR1
WR2
LT or G
C
RB
DT (3-tech)
DT (Mazi?)
DE1
LB
LB
(and that's just starters)
It's not disastrous, (there is the draft) and Jerry likes paying a high Signing Bonus to prorate the CAP into following years.
The preference is to stagger the elite contracts so they all don't hit the expensive years at the same time.
Our particular problem's, that that's a lot if players and its not so much our CAP level, it's how it compares to the rest of the league.

You also need to include dead money (tank, martin, possibly dak, etc).

The way I understand it, Martin has 4 void years, which are 2025 to 2028.

All void year money collapses into 1 year unless an extension is reached. Martin will be 34 in november....

Dead money. Lots of dead money from pushing contracts down the road.
Which is why it is stupid to restructure money to gain max cap space this year. You only take from the future cap. Yes the cap goes up every year but so does the average contracts and you won't see big jumps in the cap like this year very often. This year's jump was the exception.

Look no further than the link above to see all the expiring contracts in 2025 and 2026. Unless they roll over money from this year there is no way they can maintain the core of this talented team in 2025. Thank the FO for creating this situation by not spacing out better when these contracts expire.
