Of what actually is a fumble by a QB. I know that if the arm is going forward etc...But wasnt the ball coming out of Eli's hand on that one play before his arm was going forward. I dont think it had a significant effect on the game, but that really looked like a fumble to me.

Agreed it ultimately had no bearing on the game's outcome. But, yeah, that screamed "fumble" to me all the way. The back-right angle seemed to clearly show that the ball was coming out before the arm started moving forward.

Again, didn't impact anything other than Ellis' stat line, but I agree with you.

They ***** up that call bad. The ball was clearly loose before his arm was going forward.

It looked liek the ball came outnon his shoulder with his hand backwards. I didnt see the ball moving forward in his hand. Actually he was making a fist when his hand was moving forward.. Thats how I saw it

well at least im not alone...that was 12 yards of field position and momentum that we lost though. maybe it wouldnt change anything, but plays like that are what make games won or lost

How bout the rule where LBs hold onto RBs..........or OLinemen on Dlinemen for that matter.....with how piss-poor the Boys line is and how many flags I think should have been thrown for both teams.....how is there not 1 holding called all game........

Those officials sucked but so did we so i guess they were a perfect match tonight.......

On the other hand i thought Roy could have been called for a horse collar or two. So much for the Roy Williams rule.

That whole arm coming forward crap is BS to me.

If the ball isnt in the direction with a distinct route at the time of the questionable situation...Its a freakin' fumble.

I hate that rule. Defense gets to the QB makes, a play and disrupts a pass to the point where it hits the turf in the backfield...Its a fumble.

Had it stood, there almost certainly wouldn't have been a safety. We probably would have forced them to punt from around their 20 and should have gotten the ball back near midfield. Instead, they drove out to the 45 before punting, and they downed it at our 1.

Even if we did nothing with that field position, it would have been 10-7 before the half instead of 12-7. And because we would have needed just a field goal to tie it, we probably would have been more likely to run the ball on second-and-goal instead of throwing the interception.

I just hate reflecting on how much penalties impact a game, even if they really do. Makes me feel too Joe Gibbs-ish.

Frankly, I despised the referee tackling Roy Williams more than I did this absurd reversal of a call.

Here's the rule --

"All players are prohibited from:

( d) grabbing the inside collar of the back of the shoulder pads or jersey, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling down the runner. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket."

Roy didn't "immediately" pull down Barber. He rode him down, which is legal.

I am assuming that you are referring to the same play I am thinking of, but that was certainly a horse-collar. He left his feet after grabbing inside the collar to make the tackle. He grabbed for Tiki's foot once he had slowed him down but Tiki was already coming down at that point.

It definately looked like Tiki was close to getting his legs snapped. I thought that was the point of the rule.

If he didn't immediately pull Barber down, then it's not a penalty. He rode Barber forward.
