Can someone explain to me Raider fans?

On the NFL Network they just had a special over the Oakland Raiders. Called them the "Team of the Decades". I don't understand how anyone could like the Raiders. They have ***-ugly uniforms. Al Davis seems a little kooky. And their fans are just nuts. Can anyone explain to me where this "Team of the Decades" stuff comes from or why there is such a rabid fanbase? Yeah I understand they have been somewhat successful, but several teams have just as many or more conference championship and Super Bowl appearances and victories.

I've always wondered why everyone liked the Raiders but it's simple really...Their colors, name and town is better than 49ers & Chargers. Also, there's a lot of older people who were Raider fans back when they were winning superbowls and of course it stays in the family.
(I know saying Oakland is better than beautiful San Diego is a joke, but keep in mind Oakland = "cool")

I live in the central valley and there is nothing but Raider fans here...and yeah they ARE crazy. I can tell you the MAJORITY of them (i'm not saying all) are gang related...we do have a major gang problem down here though. You can't be gangsta sporting a 49ers or Chargers jersey.. you won't ever see that here.

They don't like the 49ers at all of course. Usually they call 49er fans..and i quote " F*g-boy from F*g-town ". KEY: * = a (Sorry if I can't say this..)

They are pretty die-hard though..I know a lot of Raider fans watching the games this year even though they really stunk. Just like all homers they defend their team on every level..I know this because I got to tease my homies this year & last year.

Oh..did I mention I really hate the Raiders? Growing up around their fans i've gotten annoyed of them even though they arn't even in OUR conference!

I *hate* the Raiders. Growing up in Cally I had them slammed over my head. My own Grandmother tried to get me to turn on the Cowboys and even bought me a L.A Raiders hat when I was a kid. Their fans flock to them mostly because they think if you're bada** you have to be a Raider fan in the black hole.

Back then I never got flak for being a Dallas fan...I guess the Cowboys are gangsta enough for them?

Living in New England now all I hear about is the Cheats. I will say one thing about Raider fans though, they are very diehard. The Raiders could go 0-16 and they would still bleed silver and black. My best friend is a Raider fan and he fits the image to a tee. Looks like a member of the Hell's Angels. I can't ever go to a non Raider game with him because he'll just use it as a excuse to start fistfights with Patriot fans
