can the run n shoot work for us?

We aren't that far from a run and shoot already...we just do it with less WRs most of the time.

I hate 4wr sets personally - unless it's third and very long. It just leaves the QB really succeptable to getting drilled..

New England does a bit of the run n shoot, they just operate it from the shotgun and use TE's for a bunch of their snaps. Sometimes they'll have 11 personnel, but send Watson out wide and effectively make him a 4th WR.

I think we'll see it, but from the shotgun. Although it possibly takes your best receiver (Witten) out from the position he operates the best from.

I think you will see more of it this year due to a few things. One being the addition of Dez and also the loss of Phillips. Witten will become more of the 4th WR in the Run and Shoot and most likely Barber in the backfield because of his ability to pick up blitzes and catch out of the backfield.

Never the real run n shoot. But I can see 3 to 4 WRs including a TE split wide in running the tree.

We don't have the receivers to run a true run and shoot.

I don't know how Dez would handle the "quick thinking" aspect of it, and I definitely don't think Roy should be allowed the freedom of option routes based on what he's shown us so far.

You want to use the run 'n shoot with this o-line:eek:

Romo better have good medical insurance.:laugh2:

Our WRs are too big to be a run and shoot offense. We can use aspects of it from time to time, but not as a base.

Where is Buddy Ryan? :)

Remember when he punched Kevin Gilbride in the face on Sunday Night Football.

He called it the "Chuck and Duck".

Another name: The Fun & Gun.

I don't think this kind of offense can work well as a main attack in the NFL. QB's would get killed. Too much speed on defense.

Like almost all NFL offenses, they are based on assimilating aspects of any other offense that has successful elements. No one runs a "pure" offense of any type because the predictability puts a small bit of an advantage to the defense trying to stop it.

Hybrid offenses with "X" tendencies towards a few certain aspects garnered from the pure offenses in the past is just about how you'd explain any NFL offense.

Like Hos said, it won't be our base.

But say we have two tight ends go down. I could see us using it 30% of the time until one got better. Even if a TE didn't get hurt, I could see it working. But not as good as our offense would run with the TEs. Because, number one they can catch. Number two, our TE block well which helps the running and passing game.

I think one of the reasons it could work (that's not to say it will work) is because of Romo and his mobility in the pocket, and the tendency for the WRs to come back to the ball when plays breaks down.
