I try to replace everyone except for Free, Bigg and Columbo. Houck would be the first coach to go.

We should be drafting 1-2 lineman this year.

What sucks about our offensive line is that when you go to say "we should replace this player" you're immediately hit with a "do you really want to do that?" feeling.

The offensive line did not play poorly throughout the season. In fact yesterday I would say was an aberration.

I say keep the same group. They're good players as individuals, and played well as a group throughout the season. Continuity counts for something, I think.

Columbo was not 100% in this game and it showed. Free needs to go to LT and get the full-time opportunity to replace Flozell. Robert Brewster has spent this entire year in the weight room and should be ready for the mini-camp as a right tackle option behind Columbo or guard behind Kozier. People have forgotten about him because he tore his Peck way long ago, but he has a lot of potential.

No way. It needs to be fixed. They should use all there picks, this year on O line. One of those picks should pan out to become a contributor.

When you look at the season in it's totality, the OL was our weakest linc.

It had its moments and was certainly above average at worst. In fact their were times and games when it was close to dominant.

Were in a tough spot here and have been for a few years. Many have spoken on the topic of how old our OL is.

This wasn't as much a concern for me going into 2008 and 2009 as it was for most here.

What did concern me was the near future. With 4 30yr old starters and one 33yr starter, we are in a position of having to replace all 5 starters in perhaps a 3 to 4 year window.

That is a fricken HUGE undertaking.

At the time I believed FA was be HUGE factor here. We were just going to have to bite the bullet and allocate big $ here.

How I saw it going into the 2008 off season was something like this.
One significant FA signing, one 1st day pick and one 2nd day pick prior to the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Well guess what? We did nothing in 2009 and now we don't even have the benefit of FA for the 2010 off-season!

We have one shot here. And I don't think I'm overstating this.

We must draft 4 offensive lineman in the 2010 draft. And hopefully we'll have a shot at an exchange FA OL for someone lost.

But we need to go into the 2010 trainging camp with 11-12 guys we feel good about assuming we get a couple of camp injuries.

Considering our age at the position and the transition we are attempting, we need to plan for 9 OL on the final 53.

I think that they are going to have to bring in some youth along the line.I think Columbo/Adams will be challenged in camp by Free and Brewster.I think Kosier needs to be replaced with a younger player that has more bulk.Kosier was getting abused at times yesterday.Gurode is a pro bowl center and I can't see him going anywhere.Davis is in the same category as Gurode.

I think Flo is becoming a liability out there and they need depth on the O line.

They played like crap during the first half of the Philly game as well. Fortunately, the game was out of hand by the second half and it didnt really matter from there on.

We have to do something about the O-line. Maybe it was just rust for Colombo. I've personally never seen him play that bad. Maybe that lineman we drafted last year can give him a run for his money. We certainly need to draft a couple this year, because even if we see fit to stick this group in the near term, they're all getting up there in age.

This group seriously underperformed in the '07 playoffs as well. So that's 3 playoff games in 3 years where the O-line was the single worst performing unit on the field (not counting the kicker). There's certainly no reason to feel confident about them or the offensive coaching staff behind them.

It's time to let Flo and Kosier go.

Let's start the OTA's with Free and Brewster and go from there.

No. It's time to find better, younger players who push them out the door.

OL must be priority #1,2,3,4 and 5 for this team.

All five of our starters our under contract for 2010.
We get no financial bene in releasing any of them.
All five of our starters are good to very good when healthy.

We need to and probably will go to camp with all five of them plus Free.
Any or perhaps all 5 of them may stay healthy and play real well in 2010.

We just need a contingency for all 5. More so than any other team because of thier collective ages and the need to be replaced soon.

We must go heavy on the OL in the draft.
We must go into camp with at least 10 viable options.

We need to have 9 on the 53.

Bingo.

I'd love to get Houck's true feelings on this line. He seemed to really like Brewster, and I remember him talking about how much he liked football and liked knocking people around. I wonder if he thinks a Bigg or a Gurode or even Flozell don't have a ton of passion for the game? Or maybe even thinks Colombo is a little too unathletic?

That's if Houck even still knows what's going on. I'd think he would, but he is getting up in age. You'd hope he would, being the highest paid OL coach in the league.

Anyway... That is a great D-line we played, maybe the most individually talented in the league. But we shouldn't have looked that bad.

Flo getting hurt, really cost us and had a domino effect. Also, our season long stategy of basically not hardly ever helping the OL with TEs was exploited by the Vikings. We got away with it vs lessor D-Lines, but they were too good--and without Flo and extra help, Romo was toast.

I said, man for man, this team matched up very well against us. I still hoped for a win. Oh well, they were better..and especially at home yesterday.

In any case, yes, we do need to start restocking the oline.

If the Vikings can win with Phil Loadholt starting at RT, why we can’t win with the guys mentioned above? I just think we got out coached and outplayed. I don't believe talent is what's missing on this team.
