Admittedly, I didn't think this guy had much of a chance. But I guarantee he isn't one of the next players cut on the 80-man roster.

According to McCarthy, he's around the play all the time in practice. Appears to be working hard at camp.

I haven't seen anything from Ridgeway, which was my initial thought on him. And then I was hopeful, only to be disappointed after watching him against NFL players. He just isn't there yet. So that's one guy who I can see Tafua beating out.

And Gholston . . . What's up with him? Haven't heard much about him at all during camp?

I personally like Basham, but many insist he's a just an average guy.

So, what are you thoughts on UDFA Mike Tafua making this roster? The only downside is he's already 27-years-old (I think he's a Mormon from Utah).

But the upside of that is his body has fully matured. He appeared to have the athleticism in the preseason.

So what are you thoughts on Tafua making the roster?

Does he have a snowball's chance?

He is not even practice squad material. He will be cut after the last preseason game…..

He won't make the roster but he should make the practice squad.. From what I could see from the Chargers game he has a great engine but looked under-sized. I suspect he may get worn down quite quickly. He's given it everything this camp.

He's done well but is practice squad only IMO. He otherwise comes at the expense of Basham/Watkins, a TE, or RB which isn't warranted IMO as we really don't need that pass rushing LB with Parsons, Barr and a crowded room of edge rushers.

I kind of like Tafua, but unless he blows up against Seattle in a major way, I see no chance that he can make it onto the 53 man roster.

Lawrence
Fowler
Williams
Armstrong
Golston (part-time DT)
Basham

Tafua, IMO, is behind every one of those guys. Probably way behind. The team obviously isn’t going to keep 7 DE’s (really 8 if you count Parsons also playing some DE).

The only one that I might see the team evaluating Tafua in front of, would be Basham, and that is primarily because he’s much cheaper than Basham. Since Tafua is already 25 years old, he really isn’t a whole lot younger than Basham.

So, unfortunately for Tafua… I just can’t see it happening. However, I do think they’ll bring him onto the practice squad and let him try again next year.

Just my opinion.

I pay attention to what's relevant. I don't care about the pet cats of a few people. If they actually make it, I'll pay attention.

If you pay attention to what's relevant youbwould have noticed Tafua had a good game against the Chargers, including a sack where he just crushed the QB blind sided.

Eh, if they use Basham or Gholston as trade bait for a tackle his name should be in the mix after the other night. If he’s consistently practiced like that then he’s definitely high priority PS candidate!

Watching this guy give maximum effort play after play has me rooting for him.

The discription I heard from him from one of those draft "experts" ( I can't remember who it was), is that he is like Bradlee Anae but with LESS speed. Take that for what it's worth but that doesn't bode well cause Anae wasn't very fast to begin with. I think it is a very long shot. Practice squad maybe but with the numbers that seem to be on the DL already, doesn't seem likely.

I saw his name mentioned once against the Chargers, but I don't remember if he actually made a play or got a penalty.

Crappy thing for you to do to someone starting a thread.
"Who?"
Such a snarky comment.
I believe it was meant to be comedically curt, but not rude. Sure, he could have said, "I don't recall seeing anyone by that name on the team.", which would have sounded more genuine to your ears, but how many times have we seen "Who?" among the first responses in a thread about a little known player? Yet I've never seen anyone get chastised for it.

To answer the OP, no, he isn't making the 53. Not a chance.

Not a chance he makes the 53. Tell me again why it's relevant that he had a good game against the Chargers?
