Can we make any trades?

With Ware possibly missing the next 3-4 weeks it does out a hole on our d line. 3/4 of our projected starters on the line are out now.

I'm no expert in the cap. Can we make a move for d line help? Any help at all? If so what are some ideas y'all have?

I don't know how we would but we need to do something. Injuries to the LBers last year likely cost us the season. The defense just didn't have enough talent to compete. A healthy defense and we probably would have easily made the playoffs last year. Now, this year, it's looking like the D-line is getting decimated. I don't want to go 7-9 again because we have injuries on defense.

I always thought Carter could rush the QB off the edge but he doesn't seem to have that type of mindset. What we need are pass rushers and those that are good don't come cheaply.

Do y'all know any Dlineman on a bad team that could work? What do y'all think of Williams from Minnesota?

Teams don't trade away pass rushers. It's just doesn't happen for the very same reason we want one. They're too hard to find. It's time to put the young guys out there, rotate them to keep them fresh and just tell them to pin their ears back.

The Cowboys don't have much cap space to take on a big contract.

The trade deadline is week 8. I think the trades have to be complete before the week 8 games; therefore, bad teams only have 1 more game to decide if they want to trade away a good player for a draft pick.

I would try to trade for:

DE Greg Hardy from the Carolina Panthers
6-4, 290
11 sacks in 2012
Age 25
Free Agent after the season
1.3M salary in 2013

Carolina, despite what New Orleans is doing, is still in the thick of a division race. I could see them stealing a Wild Card spot. Which means I don't think they will be looking to move anyone.

The Cowboys would need enough cap space to take on his 4.9M base salary. They would be responsible for 11/16ths of the 4.9M.

Williams is a Free Agent after the season and is 33 years old. The Vikings could get a late round pick and not have to pay the remainder of his 2013 salary. It would allow them to get their 1st round pick into the starting lineup now.

They also have DE Jared Allen, but unfortunately his 2013 base salary is 14M.

Yes, they probably believe that they're in the hunt for a winning season and a Wildcard spot despite their only wins being against the Giants and Vikings.

If they don't Franchise Hardy after the season, he would be a good Free Agent signing for the Cowboys. It's very early, but I'm not sure if there is much DL depth in the upcoming draft.

I think Williams would be a good pick up if we're just renting anyway. I doubt Minnesota would resign him due to his age. This makes alot of sense.

I wonder if Rat actually couldn't play DE if he wanted to/ decided to....and if JJ decided to let him don a Cowboys uniform again..........his bull rush 1 on 1 would be something to watch

Seriously? Ratliff? Come on man. Let's just bring Haley out of retirement too while we are at it...

Israel Idonije would be someone I would look at. He is on a one year deal, might be able to get him for a late round pick.

What do y'all think about Jerrel Powe? A big guy who can plug decently. He's a NT on the FA market?

The Lions are at the top of their division. Why would they be trading away players?

Jason Babin from the Jags maybe? He seems over the hill to me, but there was a Twitter rumor today that some teams have been calling about him. Have no idea what his contract details are, but I'm sure the Jags would take a late pick for him since he's 33 and they are in a serious rebuild.
