Don't get fooled into thinking Roy would be as or more effective as a linebacker. If Roy had to deal with a blocker on every snap instead of picking a free lane to steamroll the qb, he would be a different player.

What would be the harm in having him blitz alot? That's what made him a difference maker in college.

It's what he does best. Granted this is the NFL, but you get the gist. RW is still one of my favorite players.

The Steelers seem to bring Paamalu (sp?) on most downs, why not bring Roy a lot?

He wreaks havoc when we blitz him. As a matter of fact, I wish we were still blitzing him when Brunell was throwing the long TD passes.

We could have still had Henry, Newman, Glenn & Davis back.

Maybe he could have broken up the timing or even got to brunell first.

Roy Williams is a great hitter. He is below average on coverage. This has been a problem since he has been in the NFL period. Move him to linebacker next year after he weighs 250. Let him hit and do what he does best. In open space, he has always always been a liability.

No one is asking Roy to be perfect. But he does at least need to be credible in pass coverage. Especially in two-deep when he has one major responsibility. That's not asking too much from any safety.

True, but they genarraly aren't covering wide receivers 30-70 yards down-field.

Plus you need to have a good pass rush going and just think the two lame TD' were scored in the 4th. Considering the heat, maybe the D was running out of steam quicker then normal. It is the begining of the season.

THis is why the Cowboys miss Darren Woodson, he had the experience to get the team together and tell them no one gets behind us, Roy can Blitz all day long and does a great job but coverage skills are suspect. Big Bill will be hesiatant to let roy run the defense or put him in coverage without second guesing him. Either RW has learned a hard lesson or he will be second guessed the rest of the year. We will soon see, The Eagles game will be the true test. Lets hope the boys get ticked off and come out kicking and screaming at SF

soinstead of Roy, having a free lane to fire at te QB, you want him to have to face up against a OL, shed his block and get to either theQB or the LB, plus he has to know when to hold ground, when to attack, going from SS to LB isnt that easy, please actaully learn the postions, befroe you decided you want to move people there, roy is a SS with no coverage skills, we knew this since day one, but it didnt seem to hurt in 2003 when we had the number one ranked D, it didnt hurt when we won our first game. dont be silly
