Can we not eat the cheese for once?

Cowboys do seem to lose focus at home games and with the hobbled Bears this week it could be one of those frustrating games where the Boys play down to their opponent-----don't get to say that very much recently. With our defense, who knows, may make Hoyer look like McMahon out there.

The Cowboys should roll in this game. Anything less than a two TD win is unacceptable considering the circumstances. They are on the road, without their QB and they've just been Wentzed.

I expect Efreakiel to get his first 100 yard game and a couple of touchdowns. The defense to force some turnovers. Things might get so out of hand that our QB throws a touchdown pass.

Why exactly would this team be eating the cheese?

What exactly have they accomplished?

Lost to the Giants and barely beat a Skins team that is probably going to be picking in the top 10.

Wow, impressive.

I can assure you that none of the players or coaches are "eating the cheese". This is the epitome of a trap game and the coaching staff will be preaching it all week. They probably have videos of Wentz getting smashed running on a video loop at The Star.

The unknown factor, with Hoyer, is looming large also. There are several pundits that think Hoyer is actually an upgrade to Cutler just because he's more savvy about protecting the ball (even though he doesn't have Cutler's arm strength). I don't think this going to be the one sided affair that a lot of people think it is. Hoyer, though not a superstar, is a relatively smart QB. If we don't jump on this team hard and fast it could be a set up for a very nervous 4th quarter.
Chicago's D is much better than ours..

so their offense only needs to score 14-20 to win.

I figure their defense will score, too.

Not sure I would count on that. Their defense is a walking MASH unit, right now. At this point I don't I don't think their defense is better than ours with all the players they have missing. Their offense isn't a world beater by any shot. I like our chances quite a bit but I think it will be closer than most think it will.

Can we just get one large mega-thread for people to tell everyone how to feel?

What if I eat the cheese, but I'm also smart enough to avoid the trap? I recognize the team is flawed and not going to the Super Bowl at all. BUT I'm 27 and honestly think this might be the 1st time in my cowboys fandom that I feel the team is actually building for a successful future. O line, Dez, Dak, Zeke, B Jones, T Crawford, J Smith, D Law....obviously a lot needs to go right and a good bit more needs to be added, but there's finally a future of sustainable success at least in sight.

Understood.

Unfortunately..

Our team tends to play down to our competition.

so we will see.

When it is said that our team plays down to competition, is this a result of the team culture, individual players' mentalities, the coaching staff?

Is hard me to understand but in college you see ( more often then not) the big time teams stomping on and running up the score on little teams like Northwest Central Dakota Technical. Scores like 55-0, 60-10 ect are common.

The college kids love it. Stomping down peeps, laughing, high 5ing each other. The band plays harder and the mascots get crunk.

So why do the Cowboys play down and not have that killer, destroy them attitude?

When you've dreamed of filet mignon for oh so long but have been fed bread crumbs, it's a little hard not to get excited about the taste of cheese.

It (the cheese) may ultimately be unfulfilling, but it has a bit more flavor than crumbs.

Channeling our 3rd greatest coach Bill Parcells these days.

Like to see Garrett issue warnings to the players instead of the pablum he always does with smiles and claps.

This team needs him to lead and set the tempo and expectations instead of the passive resistance he uses.

More needs to be done if this flawed team is going to survive.

We are not going to be sneaking up on anybody and every team is going be out for us with all the injuries and suspensions.

The media is laying down a tale of whoa for the Bears and Cutlers injury..

its no time to relax.

Come on Garrett..

Anybody have any ideas here to get us to 2-1?

I think Garrett benching Zeke and putting Morris in to finish the game shows his action which should be greater than his words to the media. Jason will likely always be a guy who tries to build his players up instead of berating them in front of the media but again his action show he and his staff are holding players accountable be it Zeke or other players like Claiborne or Bruce Carter when he was here.

Leadership is about action not words

I think that we should just let our opponents start with the ball on our 20 yard line, if they agree that they only get 4 downs to score, no first downs. It will save everyone the trouble of watching the opposing offense have their way with us while they wear us down moving easily from their 20 to our 20. Face it, we do better with less field to defend against anyway. I bet Garrett never ever thought of this.

Don't worry about liking my post or replying to congratulate me on my idea, I already know it's brilliant. :D

I like cheese. Especially on tacos.

No, really. What if I enjoy eating the cheese? The trap isn't real anyway. Not for fans.
Good one.
But he's right...and it'll never happen.
Just like "Can we for once just let the season play out?" Yeah...right.

Don't forget to drink the Kool-Aid after eating the cheese..........J/K....
I don't think anyone is taking the first win as a sign of we are going to go on a winning streak.
Chicago with their injuries, yes should be a win, but I am not counting on it. It could be a very tough game. The way things go, you never know.
I am hoping it's payback for when we went there with 10 more times the amount of injuries they have in sub zero weather, and we put the beat down on them.

But we have a tough road ahead for anyone to eat cheese or drink Kool-Aid. At SF will still be a very tough game. Then the Bengals and at GB.
If we come out of this 3-3 it will be good. 4-2 would be fantastic.

Despite having some weapons on offense, there are no trap games for Dallas, just like there are no trap games for the Rams, Titans, etc.
We aren't good enough or even dominant enough in any area to have trap games. On paper, every game will be a dogfight due to our lack of resources on defense, and we all know from history that there will also be games when the offense doesn't show up and execute.

This team could literally go 11-5 or 5-11. We have to show up and ball-out every week just to have a chance....trap games are for teams that think they're too good for the opponent.
