Can We Now Say It Was Jimmy Johnson?

The Jones's have had three decades to make it far into the playoffs and win a 6th SB. They have failed at every turn. Cowboys fans had to wait 15 years between Coach Landry and HC Johnson to return to SB glory. I thought that was absurd, but now?

It's time to face the facts, the Jones's don't know how to win a SB. It was always Jimmy Johnson and until the Jones's admit that and change their ways, the Cowboys will always be "what was."

Jimmy Johnson doesn't happen without Jerry Jones buying the Cowboys and signing the checks. Both are why the Cowboys won the 2 Super Bowls with Jimmy.

I've been saying this since 1996. :)

Pretty sure Jerry has been secretly sneered at by the vast majority of the fan base and other objective football observers who aren’t awestruck by or dependent upon his money ever since he fired a two-time repeat SB winning coach and has been pretending to be a football guy ever since.

Jerry didn't man up when he brought Parcells on board. It has been well documented why Jerry hired Bill, and it wasn't because Jerry had some epiphany that Bill was going to return the franchise to glory.
Yep , for getting the new stadium , right?

This I can appreciate

Yep, that's it. For as football dumb as Jerry is, that was a smart move on his part. He knew he wasn't going to get support from the fans / tax payers for the stadium if he didn't make a serious HC hire. And in the beginning fans were giving credit for Jerry wanting to get the franchise back to its winning was.

But then that drunken rant of Jerry's came to light...... I have been anti Jerry ever since.

What??????????? Dude, we've known for decades that the success of the 90's Cowboys was mainly because of Jimmy Johnson and his style of coaching that helped the Boys win multiple SBs in the 90's. The only thing Jerry brought to the 90's was his wallet...............................

I don't believe it was all Jimmy Johnson who was responsible for our Superbowl runs. I believe it was a collective effort between Jimmy AND Jerry.

If Jimmy could orchestrate Superbowl teams by himself, then he would have done it in Miami, but he didn't.
Give Jimmy 30 years and he'd win another SB and probably more.

No, we can still say Jimmy and Jerry, because without Jerry signing off on things Jimmy wanted to do there would be no SBs.
Besides Jimmy didn’t win in Miami so definitely no we can’t say that

“Failed miserably” is a bit harsh considering the roster he left to Wannstedt.

Drafted Madison, Surtain, Taylor, Thomas, etc, and not with premium picks.

The problem was iconic Marino was cooked but didn’t want to quit yet, and he was going out on his own terms. Jay Fiedler was the best they could do thereafter. You see what happens in the NFL without a QB.

Aikman was in his lap when he got to Dallas, but there’s no reason to trash the job Johnson did in order to defend a piece of crap adulterer and dictator like Jerry Jones who thinks he is better than everyone despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary
Thank you for writing this.

Using your references....we all should just thank you.

Jimmy showed his butt when Jerry showed the Prince of Saudi Arabia Texas Stadium...

Moderators, please make sticky for this topic. We don't need to keep addressing this.

Just curious, how did Jimmy do after leaving Dallas?

Jimmy didn't have a thing to do with Smith at left guard, the new first round right guard, and this

These are the things around the Cowboys that have gotten the most buzz, but Pro Football Focus' Jonathon Macri actually called 23-year-old center Cooper Beebe the team's biggest "breakout candidate."

"Dallas Cowboys: C Cooper Beebe," Macri said. "The Cowboys have been rebuilding the offensive line through the NFL Draft, and Beebe has already started to show signs of promise after one year as a starter. Beebe finished the regular season ranked 13th in PFF grade (65.4) among centers with at least 578 blocking snaps. Beebe’s strength was as a run blocker in Year 1, though there’s reason to believe that he can become a much better pass-blocker as well, which was his best attribute coming out of college, providing hope that he’ll continue to progress in Year 2."

The Cowboys took Beebe in the third round of the 2024 National Football League Draft and he started 16 games for the team. Dallas' offensive line has been its calling card for years and Beebe is in line to be a big piece of it for years to come. The Cowboys clearly have high hopes for him and early returns already have been solid.

Been saying it since the day the senile old man fired him.
Jimmy quit, he wasnt fired, jerry apologized, but jimmy would not come back.
He didnt like jerry doing his PC's, and I doubt jerry would have quit doing those.
