The possibilties with Felix are endless!!!

I don't suppose he can coach, can he? Call plays on offense, perhaps?

I want Tony Romo on the field as much as possible. Screw the wildcat. When you have a dangerous QB with mobility I don't see any use for that formation. What you should be asking Garrett is to utilize Romo's mobility more.

if we would run the wildcat i would like someone better than stanback, so i would draft an athlete like Pat White in l8r rounds. Also, i don't think it would help but so much, but it would be fun to watch.

With an entire off season to look at it, this gimmick offense will be useless.
.........BINGO! In the NFL the gimmick stuff gets exposed and dispatched of pretty quickly. Next season the wildcat formation will be an epic fail as defenses have a years worth of tape now.

I'm all for some creativity. Mix in something unusual periodically to keep teams off-balance. What amazes me is that we have had Crayton (former college QB) for years and I can't ever remember him completing a pass. I think they may have tried a couple of times, but I would think they would come up with a few more plays where he can pull up and throw. I mean, even Witten hit TO in that Philly game.

Did you guys forget who our OC is......Mr. Tecmo Bowl.

He likes 75% pass plays from shotgun and our best run is the draw play (out of shotgun!!!).

Dont hold your breathe waiting to see the wildcat in Big D next year.

odds that both would be injured after the first play? 50/50?

I wouldn't mess with those odds. I believe Felix had turf toe. This is an injury that occurs normally when your big toe gets bent back too far. I have had that exact injury and it took me a good 3 weeks before I could ever get back out and condition. It was a good month before I played football again. Sometimes injuries like that linger. Sometimes the athlete has to be fitted with a special shoe with a shunt that prevents that extra bend of the foot. I wore a shunt in my left cleat for the rest of the season. Hopefully his injury wasn't too serious. I would hate to hear it's something that will stay with him well into this season and possibly for the rest of his career.

I don't think it will be that long, also did you notice how little success Miami had running it against NE?, Good teams will stop this.

I'm just a little spooked by a guy that did 8 reps at the combine and made it a whole 30 carry's and 2 receptions before he was out for the year. You'd think he's been averaging 8 yards a carry for several years the way he's been put on a pedestal around here.

Its funny the team 1-15 last season that ran it made the playoffs, and the team 12-3 last season that didnt run it...uh a HUGE disapointment...HUGE DISAPOINTMENT.

its fun to think of the possibilties with the 3 RBs we have..but Garrett might be the only offensive coordinator in the league that doesnt even know how to incorporate Roy Williams into an offense.

so while we think of ways to use Felix-choice-Barber and let our fantasys run wild, reality forces us to watch Garrett try to use a #2 WR who is one of the most physically gifted WRs in the league. equivalent to watching a 2 year old finish long division.

had we not traded for Roy.....we could have used our first on Percy Harvin.

Imagine the Wildcat with Felix and Percy......

A few wildcat plays would be fun. I think all agree that once the novelty owre off (and Miami smoked New England with it) it bacame more of change of pace rarity....still fun though.

Not to change the subject, but I don't think we draft a WR this year because of Felix. Remember for he got hurt, we were supposed to see him lining up as a receiver in some formations. He has the speed and hands to be successful there. If only Garrett will actually put him in there.

Felix Jones stats:
rushing:
2005- 6.3 ypc
2006- 7.6 ypc
2007- 8.7 ypc

recieving:
2005- 12.5 ypc
2006- 7.1 ypc
2007- 11.0 ypc

before he got injured this season, he averaged 8.9 yds per carry and 5.0 yds per catch. all of this with absolutely NO FUMBLES.

Here is my solution to defend the wildcat. Put your strong safety or linebacker out to cover the QB who is now lined up as a receiver and hit the crud out of him. You can't draw a roughing the passer penalty. Just hit him square in the chest. Even risk getting a defensive holding penalty and form tackle the guy. This will especially work well against the Dolphins when Pennington is lined up out there.

Coaches hate to see their starting QBs take unnecessary hits. The QB should get hit if they line up at wide receiver. The QB should definitely get hit when the offense throws a pass/lateral to them while they are lined up at receiver. The Dolphins threw a lateral to Pennington and he then threw it downfield. How the defense did not tee off on him is beyond me?

Hit the QB and they will stop lining him out wide. I also don't want to see Romo taking unnecessary hits.

I am a believer that you don't need gadget plays to win. You use gadget plays as a final blow to teams when you have a nice lead. If you are relying on gadget plays to get the offense going then you have some issues on offense that will catch up with you.
