Can we re-play the Seattle game?

Okay, Bigg is a "bigg" improvement over Rivera, but it galls me to think that we had almost the exact same squad plus Terry Glenn. Has Garrett made that much of a difference? Could Garrett and Big Bill have coexisted? Would "Bus Driver" Bill have reined him in? Why were we such in that game?

A shell-shocked Romo is why. The receivers were running intermediate and deep routes. He just wasn't throwing to them.

I think Bill woodshedded him on protecting the ball after that Detroit game.

Shell-shocked from what? The Detroit fiasco?

I believe it was a case of a team playing not to make mistakes. We played afraid so often because of the fear of making the big mistake when all we ended up doing was making the game closer than it should have been and a mistake at the end costed us the game. That mindset came from Parcells.

We no longer play with that mindset.

Oh and Garrett wouldn't be nearly as effective under Parcells. I promise you that.

It was also only the 11th start of Romo's career.

It was his first playoff game. And in a pretty hostile environment.

bill didn't really reign in sean payton when he was here, I am pretty sure he wouldn't have done so with Garrett. But I also think the looseness is a big factor with this team. When you stop worrying about making mistakes you stop making them nearly as often. Not sure that kinda thing would float with big bill.

They were playing not to lose, which hardly ever works out these days.

Have you watched Sean Payton's offense? That's nothing like what he ran here. Personally, I'm glad he reigned it in. Payton's offense is the opposite extreme of a Parcells offense and neither are very smart in my opinion.

And that goes back to Bill. Not sure that Garrett would have had nearly the same amount of freedom (or success) in Bill's shadow.

I would love nothing more but to pound Seattle in the playoffs this year.

Oh my God I hope so too. Wow. I never have thought Seattle was a good team...even in their Super Bowl year. We would absolutely demolish them if we played them in the playoffs. Taking into consideration the revenge of last year, I'm talking like 38-10/38-14.

We always played them tough, and every single game we've lost against them is because WE lose the game for us. They never seem to flat out beat us.

Romo just was trying to not lose the game with costly turnovers, and it made him hesitant to throw deep.

Plus it was his first playoff game

Not to mention BP did not want our D on the field any more then he had to. Considering the way it got owned by Detroit

I have not read much of this thread but the biggest thing that Garrett has done for Romo is that he has figured out how to get Romo going early in games. It took him the first 5 games to figure it out but now he has.

Romo always used to start the game a bit hyper, throwing high and so forth, but the past 4 games or so Romo and Garrett have hit a stride with opening series. He has figured him out, what plays to call and what not to. Once we are past that opening drive Romo settles down and is good to go!

They always used the phrase last year that he was "off the reservation" last year and I don't think they knew exactly how to get him back. Garrett is now starting him slow, on a bicycle in the reservation so he can't go off, and gets him in a groove and then puts him in the Ferrari and lets him take off

I'd rather not.

As much as I would have liked to win that game, play Chicago and see what happened from there, I think Bill would have stayed on another year. I'm glad Bill's gone because it seems the team is glad he's gone, too, and are playing much better for Wade.

TO's a better teammate.

All the Cowboys coverage and "news" this year isn't revolving around TO's relationship w/ his coach.

Garrett can pretty much do what he wants on offense.

The defense can do more of what they want.

For all the good Bill did in assembling talent, Wade, Garrett, and Stewart are putting it to better use.

The major difference between this year and last year is Wade Phillips has appearantly fixed the defense.

Another slight difference is the Offensive Staff will make inexperienced cornerbacks pay.

I forget what season it was when the Eagles trotted out a very inexperienced Cornerback filling in for Sheppard or Brown and we didn't attack as much as I would like.

There is absolutely no way Jason Garrett doesn't destroy Cornerbacks that were Tour Guides and Loan Officers the previous week, which was the case when we played Seattle last year in the Playoffs.
